They've also created outrageous lies and actively attempted to derail it at every step. Does the ACA need some fixes? Of course! Honestly, it needs to be replaced with a Medicare for all system. The thing that will always be broken about America's healthcare system is that there are people trying to profit from it at every step. The bills Republicans keep trying to ram through Congress are going to be worse for everyone because they are trying to shore up profits for all of their donors and cut taxes for the wealthy. Imagine that the Affordable Care Act is an Elevator that has minor technical issues and the people in it are now receiving insurance when they previously were unable to. This elevator replaced a set of stairs that sat atop a rock climbing-wall that had to be climbed before you could even get to the stairs. Many people were unable to climb this wall because of their pre-existing conditions and or lack of wealth. A rational mechanic would have the people step off the elevator on whatever floor they are on and repair the issues and then send them on their merry way. This would represent some minor changes to the healthcare bill. An irrational mechanic would lock them in the elevator and sever the cable so that the elevator and the people within it slam into the ground and die. This is what a repeal / partial repeal / Republican led amendment to the ACA will do. It will kill people, especially those who have pre-existing conditions. And in a developed country it shouldn't be a problem, that your income is low. Americans are proud of their capitalist pigs and I don't get it. One of the things I like the most about Germans is how patriots you aren't. I almost had a German boyfriend and he told me how you feel shame about Nazis and the holocaust, but most of Americans seem to be proud of their past involving slavery, patriotism and etc. German is a capitalist country but your Welfare State is well done, imo. There is a massive difference and that difference is culture. Being proud of your culture is what patriotism is really, which is why I see nothing wrong with it.
