LittleHooker 3,079
Here in the UK an emergency Buckingham Palace meeting was called at 3am by Queen Elizabeth II. Although it is not uncommon for meetings to be held for all senior aids to her Majesty the fact that the meeting has been called at the 'eleventh hour' it is widely believed that there could be some 'major' news coming shortly. As always there have been a number of speculations regarding the reasons for this 3am meeting, from reports that Prince Philip has passed away or that the Queen has decided to abdicated. I must stress that these are all just speculation at this time, and a announcement from Buckingham Palace is due at 8AM BST. It is now 8:18am here in the UK And no announcement. BBC News has also not mentioned anything regarding this story. UPDATE: Prince Philip to step down from carrying out royal duties this autumn reports the BBC. 'The Duke of Edinburgh is retiring from royal duties this autumn, Buckingham Palace has announced. The decision was made by Prince Philip himself and is supported by the Queen, a palace spokesman said. He will attend previously scheduled engagements between now and August but will not accept new invitations. The prince - who turns 96 next month - is patron, president or a member of more than 780 organisations and will continue to be associated with them. However, he "will no longer play an active role by attending engagements", Buckingham Palace said.'

Then again, maybe it turns out to be a fake rumour?!
ryhanna 3,507
I'm not sure why they would call an emergency meeting at 3 in the morning if the Queen decided on abdication. That kind of announcement can be planned out. This can only be something bad, I think...
