gagzus 16,011
Probably because the album isn't about race... it's EXPLICITLY about LGBT rights and Gaga's life growing up in New York. not everything has to be about this, plus Gaga is an activist of kindness and acceptance, I am usually pretty all for these types of exposé's but not when they have no BASIS and she's completely disregarding what BTW was about and race wasn't one of them things
drinkmytears 2,332
I tried to watch this but the Beyoncé comparison and praise just shows how delusional she is

While I don't agree with Kat, I do agree with you on that. There's a reason that the gay twitter (eghhhhh) stereotype of Gaga fans are "lowkey racist white twinks". God forbid somebody talk race on here, tbh. But this thread isn't entirely about that, so I'm gonna be hush hush before I get silenced by somebody else. If that's fair then calling BLM a lowkey terrorist group is also fair. It's a joke! When you give me that look, it's a joke!
gagzus 16,011
Also since Kat and often a lot of fans and haters don't understand Gaga's message of equality this was the best explanation she gave and she's right

Luv u Sum 2,391
It's true tho and that's what makes it an amazing song! It's not JUST for a specific group of people she wrote this song for every type of human being on this planet! "No matter gay straight or bi, lesbian transgender slide..." "no matter black white or beige, chola or orient made" "you were born this way" now I didn't watch the video but I saw comments saying that it's "a pro gay" song when it's not... it a pro "be whoever the hell you are" and that's why it's beautiful! Shes telling everyone in the world that you are beautiful and you are okay and to not let anyone tell you otherwise! Not just the gays, not just black people, but whites, straights, Mexicans, trans, Asians, Christians, atheists, ANYBODY! And THAT is why it's my favorite song ever written because it contains not a single bit of negativity...just pure 100% love for anyone who hears it

Especially when it comes to racial issues. I mean..."you're black white beige chola descent you're lebanese you're orient" edit: also Gypsy is a slur in many parts of the world lol. I love Gaga but yeah she gets awk sometimes, as I think any person would on the global stage. Especially any white person. Just because we're usually pretty sheltered and ignorant. She tryin' tho. Oriane 21,119
What are you all talking about ? "No matter gay, straight or bi, lesbian, transgendered life I'm on the right track baby I was born to survive No matter black, white or beige, chola or orient-made I'm on the right track baby I was born to be brave" This IS an "all lives matter" anthem. Why don't YOU read the lyrics. The only GGD member who can read / Credits to Celloo Deng for the profile pic!
Katharine Hepburn 4,607
It's an LGBT anthem but mentions ideas of race and identity but the focus is definitely LGBT xoxo Joanne
uo111 5,265
If Gaga had made a political statement about BLM, she would've made a video about how Gaga is using black people to gain popularity and how she couldn't possibly understand the movement since she is white so she should stay out of it and let black performers like Beyonce make the statement instead. There is always something to criticize, even if someone agrees with you.

Phoenix 17,395
The term "all lives matter" is mostly used by white people as response to "black lives matter". "All" isn't about gay lesbian male female etc. it is about both black and white people. Since this is a song mostly centered about lgbt rights, that statement makes no sense. 💎

Exactly. Let's have nuanced opinions (and actually watch the video ) folks You forgot to mention "Burqa"/Aura (My feelings on that are actually kind of complicated ) 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから

Those fashion burqas she wore. always just a little....awkward for me lol. There's a message there that needed to be fleshed out with regard to islamophobia and liberation for women looking different for every woman....but that song didn't make it seem like she was going far enough with that issue or really making it clear...or even making it clear she understood the issues. That's why I loved Born This Way, she got deep in there and seemed to really understand that. You can be a pop activist but you have to do your homework lol.
