highbythebeach 2,475
Is it just me or has Gaga's voice gotten alot deeper? I noticed when I was watching performances from the Artrave then watched the Superbowl haltimeshow and Coachella and it seemed like a big difference. I'm not criticizing her or saying that it sounds worse, Gaga is an amazing vocalist and we all know it but is it normal for her voice to get so deep so quick? Spoiler Or am I being dumb and it's something that completely normal?
kihlophix 1,138
voice changes as you get older, and add smoking and drinking to that and it goes a bit deeper faster.
SILENT HILL 1,715
I feel like her voice sounds different every era tbh
GypsyBabe 22,836
As a rabid Stevie Nicks fan, smoking, drinking, and drugs definitely made her voice drop down when she was in her thirties. I hope this doesn't happen to Gaga because of her smoking etc. But either way, voices change with age, and I am sure that I will love her voice no matter what. ⚯͛

dit 46,473
You are absolutely right. It's because of years of smoking, adapting her vocals to jazz during the C2C era and also because she is aging. Beyonce also went through this the minute she reached her 30's and had a baby. You could tell her voice sunk a bit to lower registers and it sounded muffled when she would reach the higher ranges were as before it sounded like a piercing tone. I prefer this deeper texture to Gaga's voice now though.
Fiona Apple 13,006
I feel like 2011 was the peak of Gaga's voice. She could hit really high notes with perfect control and effortlessly and sound great. But she is still great
LadOfAbyss 597
Yes it's deeper now and I'm kinda sad cuz I feel like she won't sound the same for certain songs that have moments where her voice higher, example: eh eh. Also I noticed that Just Dance she doesn't even sing with her cute high voice instead she sings it like a rock star- which I don't hate but would still like to hear that voice again 😭 I am as vain as I allow

Like you would get what I mean if you listen to her speaking voice at the Born This Way Ball. 2014/2015/2016 were the best. Basically Cheek to Cheek and the whole tribute and Oscars eras reinvented her vocals.
Bradley 59,108
I actually like it when Gaga's voice is deep, I prefer it when she sounds like a man than a woman and I find it going lighter as opposed to going deeper? Like just compare to

Like just compare to I think that's just because bad romance is a song where Gaga sings in a deeper voice and The Cure is a song where she sings in a higher voice When you listen to her sing Bad Romance now imo it sounds even deeper than it did when it was first released in 2009

I don't really understand what you mean about the btw era tbh. She sounded INCREDIBLE in almost every tv performance
