question

Have there been other pop artists who did things seemingly left like C2C?

I think Alanis Morissette's departure from angry rock to zen-sounding harmonies was quite left.

Madonna's I'm Breathless album immediately comes to mind, but it was intended to coincide with the **** Tracy (Oh dear lord, this is censored?) release, so I'm not sure it was entirely out of left field.

Cyndi Lauper's Sisters of Avalon album was a total departure from her earlier pop material. I remember being so surprised when I listened to it for the first time.

oh, one old cousin had this cd and i remember i use to bop with that one, maybe ha best record :lolly:

Sia was an indie artist, then she started writing music for other popstars and then she released Chandelier, then This Is Acting. :golfclap:

Just kidding. It's late but I'll think of something tomorrow, I'm sleepy.

What kind of song has a chorus that is less catchy than the versus? This song never goes anywhere. What style is this even?

But how was C2C unexpected ? Am I the only one who remembered that she announced it in 2012 and was totally waiting for this after the release of ARTPOP ?

Sisters Of Avalon is an album that has so many different styles in it but remains a classic to my ears.  I listen to it often after all these years!!

It's SUCH an underrated album. It still sounds fresh after all these years but still manages to keep that 90s grunge vibe.

Exactly!   I've recommended it for ages now.  To me, the majority of Cyndi's albums are underrated but Sisters is my favorite of them all.  Bring Ya To The Brink has some great moments too (Echo...omg).   SO cool to see someone who loves some Sisters Of Avalon!!!   Nice taste.
