The working class just voted a ****ing billionaire that was born with a silver spoon in his mouth into office...one that lives in gold towers and plays golf three days a week. Why would it matter if Obama ends up being a millionaire? Like most past Presidents, he will give speeches, write a book, open a library, start a charity, and live a good life.

They voted him in because they thought he was gonna use his insider skill to do good for them.

Yes, they were idiots. And now we have to treat them lie idiots and not do stupid **** that makes us look bad.

it doesn't matter if ends up rich, just not from Wall Street. That's not a good image for our party.

Obama was the one who criticized Wall Street his entire presidency, speech after speech, and now he is doing paid private speeches? Hypocrite much?

And btw, I do like a lot of what Obama did, I liked the guy, but I report news and hypocrisy.

Bernie is one of the worst people to happen to modern politics that isn't a republican.

He did manage to (finally) give the American left some influence. I don't think NY would be going for free college now already if it weren't for him.

I was supportive of this at first but then realized that a former president should not be given such big money. It could be used as a form of corruption during the presidency, giving the money at a much later point.

I think that's great but I think the damage he caused by building up a crazy stubborn fanbase is far worse than the good he brought. Trump being president is one of them.

Wait, what's hypocritical? I don't think Obama ever said he wouldn't do a private speech for WS. It's kind of a non-issue tbh. I think he's still allowed to communicate with such people even if he doesn't really agree with them. Another example would be Russia.

But I do understand where you are coming from. Do you know what Obama's talking points were in the speech?

They voted him in because 1. Republicans always fall in line 2. he was a con man who conned the most desperate and vulnerable 3. he openly hated the people they secretly hated.

He can end up rich however he wants to. He no longer works for the American people. He served his country well. I imagine he will find ways to give back in various ways over the decades that stretch ahead, as one of our most important and respected former Presidents.

Yes, they were conned into thinking he was on their side and would fix the system he abused for decades.

Yes, he can do whatever he wants. I just don't think it's a good look for our party.

Hillary stans are still blaming Trump on Bernie? :rip:

Good Lord Dems. are gonna lose in 2018 and 2020 if we don't come together and stop the foolishness.

Trump won because he tapped into people's fears and promised them everything. People in this country are pretty dumb and believed it.

Us Dems/Liberals, whatever, underestimated this and now we're here.

People are sick of "politicians" so they put a reality TV star/businessman in the WH.

Bernie isn't really the one to say what is good for "our party". These purity tests are stupid and a waste of time and energy! We have a nutcase with dementia in the oval, a white supremacist as his right hand man, a xenophobe as the attorney general and a climate denier as EPA Chief. The President's cabinet is full of corruption and Russian connections. The usual rules and guidelines surrounding nepotism have been thrown out the window.

We have FAR BIGGER problems to be worrying about than attacking a highly respected former Democratic President, who is simply doing what every other President has done before him.

Just a side note...this won't help Bernie with that much needed minority vote if he is aiming for 2020...which I highly suspect this is what all this is about. Something as simple as this could be shooting himself in the foot again.

I TRULY am sick of this "relatively new notion" that (ALL Dems) most be poor in under to communicate to & represent our base!

...And especially the fact that he is not running for anything at the moment, or in the future.

Because in all honesty, if they offered me almost half a million dollar for a speech!  I'd be on the plane right now, while typing this!  Lbvs

I'm not going to sit here & remain poor for nobody, or no ideology... Humph!  :whitney:

Henny, Trump is president because he knew how to energize the Republican party and bring out voters who would have sat at home. Hillary failed miserably at connecting to the Democratic party. She was way too middle of the road, and tried appealing to Republicans who were against Trump, rather than appealing to her own party.

Democrats are gonna keep losing and it's not because of Bernie.

It's because politicians, who are the face of the party, do **** like this.

Not only did Obama not persecute any Wall Street CEO's for their wreckless practices, he's now getting cozy with them. Very Nice. It's no wonder democrats don't find value in taking money out of politics. They personally benefit from the current status quo. Meanwhile the democratic party keeps getting smaller and independent voter block keeps getting bigger. :applause:

Politicians listen to their constituents... NOT the other way around. Stop telling voters they need to give up their values in order to service the lesser of two evils.

It's time for Bernie to forget the democrats and create a new actual progressive party of the people.

Bernie IS one of the main reasons we have Donald Trump in the white house. That's simple. Anyone who says otherwise is in denial. And as for "coming together"?? THAT'S hilarious! We WERE together and we WERE unified before Bernie Slanders came along and caused a rift in the party.

Good idea. He should stay an Independent and run as one from here on out.
