I disagree with this.

First, what were they supposed to release? Million Reasons, a ballad? Dancin In Circles, a song about touching yourself as a lead for an album about her dead family member? A-YO, a snoozefest?

Secondly, it wasn't even a choice. The label asked Gaga to work with Tame Impala and it was designed and recorded specifically to be a lead single.

Thirdly, yes, it may have bombed sales-wise but we don't know how much it helped sell the album. There's no way the album sold 200k+ first on its own. The song might have not connected with radio listeners and Spotify streamers but I'm sure the fact that the lead was produced with Tame Impala attracted a lot of album buyers.

Million Reasons as lead would have smash so hard, adele would get shook

I was drinking a tea and I literally burned myself with it from the laugh that I had reading this.

It's funny because I'm not even a fan of Katy, don't own any of her music, never been to a show. But I think she just released two of the best pop songs of the year.

Of course she's not even 1/10 of an artist, songwriter, performer (really anything) that Gaga is and will never be, but that doesn't change the fact that most of you pretend to hate BA because it's Katy, same way you pretend to like TC because it's Gaga.

Oh please, anyone who has been paying attention for the past few years isn't buying that.

I wouldn't care for BA either, if some other pop girl released it. Now, as a longtime Gaga Stan, I've come to love the sound of her voice. There is a very, very small chance that if Gaga reworked this song and sang it using her own inflections, I might consider it to be okay.

Just like I don't like every song on every album of Gaga's, I don't care for every single of hers either. I've noticed over the years that most fans here are the same. Maybe you've missed that.

We all know Bon Appetit is a bad Song. I've seen Katy live several times, watched Documentaries etc. BUT this Song is just really bad and nothing special.

Mr was a us hit only which happened thanks to the SB. i refuse to believe a radio station would play her after the first week if it wasnt for the universal acclaim and constant discounts making the song number on itunes. I think ppl were interested in the song but radio wasnt with her until early 2017. A shame.

Which makes her decision to refuse to abandon it at the SB one of the best she's made in her career. She would've had a hitless era but instead walked away with a Top 5 before moving on. She brilliantly tied it in the middle of all of her best selling singles too to make it feel big.

If it was sung by Adele surely, they would have dropped every song after the first week tbh. The SB changed her image completely in terms of relevancy

Secondly, it wasn't even a choice. The label asked Gaga to work with Tame Impala because they didn't see any potential singles on the album and "Perfect Illusion" was designed and recorded specifically to be a lead single.

Thirdly, yes, it may have bombed sales-wise but we don't know how much it helped sell the album. There's no way the album sold 200k+ first on its own. This thread is a mess :toofunny:

In a couple of years both MR and the entire album will be regarded as essential Gaga music.
