I think after PI underperformed they probably wrote her off - although they didn't really support her with that so it's kind of ironic. However The Cure is clearly doing better than any single she's released her since DWUW, and it's proven it's potential after holding up for two weeks. I don't want to sound like I'm being sensational but if they don't playlist it this Friday, I wouldn't be surprised if they never playlist her again. She has 18m audience on radio in the US, but she's 41 on iTunes with nothing else pushing it up (promo, iTunes banners, music video etc...) whereas other songs have much higher radio audience (as noted) but are in similar or lower positions. The implication is that as her radio audience grows, her exposure grows, thus potential to chart even higher on iTunes VS other songs that are charting at her level with much higher exposure.
