What is the point of remix EPs?

Someone started a thread recently about what people's favourite songs are from Gaga's remix EPs that she's released for each single (excluding Joanne's ). It got me thinking what's the actual reasoning behind them? Most pop artists release them a few weeks or so after a single comes out and I was just wondering why? It doesn't seem to give the songs any immediate sales boosts (e.g. iTunes), do they count towards the total sales/streams for the song? If anyone with good chart knowledge could explain that'd be great

I find most remixes to be really bad, why they'd want an EP who knows. Plus WHO is buying them?

They don't happen as often nowadays, it was more a thing when CD singles were more popular I think.

Because they are ****ing awesome.

And it's also an exceptional way to promote your music, as most clubs are going to be more likely to play a remix of a song, instead of the actual song. You go into any gay bar in Chicago and request Gaga, they will play a remix. Even the bars that play music without taking requests. They play the remixes.

Again, it was a phenomenal way to promote your music.

Her remix EP's back when she used to release them for each single (still pissed she stopped this) were absolute FIRE. The Skrillex remix of Bad Romance damn near rivaled the original song.

Please start doing that again, Gagz. For me, plz.

It counts towards sales. Becomes one. But for the case of Marry The Night which had bazillion remixes. It didn't work:lolly:

It counts for total sales/streams of the song, that's why we got 'Till it Happens to You #1 on the US Dance Club Songs chart :deadbanana:

Which should make people ponder just how many of her chart topping songs actually got there because of remixes.

Because it's cool to a lot of people to hear their favorite songs reworked in different ways.  Some of Gaga's remixes have been AMAZING.

I'm talkin' 'bout forever, baby.
