Let's be real, what sane person would film themselves making promo for The Cure in the way she does it :rip:

Just want to say that if this campaign was done in favour of any other artist's single, you'd say it was stupid and a tacky way to get a song promoted. We'd never let Katy hear the end of it if this was her. By all means, you're free to do as you wish and if your mothers are loving the song, great, but don't force this if there's not something genuine there. If the song does go on to become a hit, I don't want people claiming that it was because we cheated with a silly marketing campaign.

There's no such thing as a silly marketing campaign if it is successful.

Remember how much Gaga got dragged for that 99c deal on BTW on the opening week? Some people, even her own fans, said that those who took advantage of the deal shouldn't have their sale counted in the amount of copies sold because it just was too cheap to be viable. And when Billboard started counting YouTube views, people also criticised how viral videos with Wrecking Ball in them got the song back to #1. Marketing campaigns and viral campaigns can put an artist in a negative light if they seem a bit cheesy or unfair. I don't want there to be a backlash against Gaga for this.
