Cops pull out guns on 12 year old boys

compared to the tamir rice incident, this one was handled much better. this really demonstrates how unprofessional the tamir rice shooting was. the cops kept their distance and nobody got hurt other than the psychological impact it had on the kids and mother. that psychological impact is a casualty of the reality in poor neighborhoods where the danger for these officers is real and rarely understood by outsiders who dont live in the areas that are rife with crime.

 

i have no idea what the cops were told before the interaction, but if it is alleged that they were armed, then this is the proper way to handle a potentially dangerous situation. it is unfortunate that it has to be done this way but as someone who comes from a dangerous city and neighborhood, kids as young as 12 or 13 having guns and making poor decisions with them is no beyond the realm of reality in the hood. i had friends in middle school that were strapped and one even once tried to pull it out on another kid at the park where our bus dropped us off from. we can cry about how mean the police look in this clip but from my standpoint, this is the best job they could have done given the circumstances. kids let go and nobody was killed. pretty pathetic that the idea of nobody being killed of arrested is the best case scenario in interactions like this but if you live in a dangerous neighborhood infested with little gangbangers, you know that this is the reality that our crime riddled environment has dictated for us. police treat us as dangerous because there do exist dangerous individuals within our communities and that potential for danger isnt exclusive to adults, children are unfortunately dangerous as well.
