Her entire life revolved around other JW she socialized with. None of her "friends" talked to her anymore, part of her family, including her mother were angry at her and stopped talking to her for a while. She reached out for help from these people and they basically told her that they couldn't do anything because she was no longer a believer. She was suicidal but eventually got better. To be quite honest they are the most non judgmental of the Christian denominations I have yet to encounter. They firmly believe that they are not allowed to judge others because only God can. So they may make choices and believe in things I don't but I won't judge them because I make choices and believe in things they don't! Awful on Russia's part. Jehovahs Witnesses is one evil cult. Not only do they break up families by shunning people left and right but they also protect pedophiles. Just a couple of years ago 1000+ files of cases of child molestation/rape leaked which the cult had hidden away from the police and media to not get bad publicity. As an ex jw myself this is something every jw is aware is happening as they encourage people not to report any crime to the police. Kids every day are raped by men and are silenced when speaking out. They are told by the leaders of the congregation that it never happened to them and that they probably even enjoyed getting raped. I am myself a victim of sexually harassment and was told to suck it up, mind you I was ten. Kids seek help but therapy and such are forbidden within the organisation so they usually commit suicide. I left because i'm gay. They encouraged me to pray away the gay which I tried to do for several years but it was killing me. When I left my relationship with my mom was destroyed. What they do is mentally abuse and brainwash their member into thinking that if they do not follow everything the leaders tell them (which is 5 white men from the U.S.) they will die. Its been explained to me before that they have a "do not call list" But they dont casually just add everyone who didnt show interest You have to specify that you wanna be put in a do not call list or else they will forget to take note if your house number when they are done Although I dont find their visits that annoying. They do have some magazines on everyday life stuff. Sometimes its religious but sometimes its just stuff with good suggestions.
