The Cure = Having little faith in Joanne singles?

So The Cure is really cute and I like it. I'm not crazy about the fact that it's rather generic but happy nonetheless that we have new music and Gaga continues to deliver for us.

However, doesn't releasing the Cure when there has only been two (and one TRULY successful Top 5) singles off Joanne kind of discredit the potential for the actual tracks on Joanne? Like John Wayne is one of her best visuals since the BTW era (imo) and if it was sent to radio and promoted could have been huge.

In addition, i could imagine im not the only monster who was praying to the GaGods that Dancin in Circles would be released around this time for a summer smash single? If she truly is releasing an EP (which I don't think she is) and re-releasing Joanne ala The Fame Monster, than I stand corrected. But I just feel like if you're releasing a new single to radio when your most recent album is only 6 months old, perhaps Interscope didn't have faith in the other songs on the record? Idk I was just hoping for another Joanne single to be sent to radio and the Cure would've been a good surprise/side song like Beyoncé did recently with Die With You.

Thoughs?

Maybe Joanne  was supposed to be a short era since the beginning?

We don't know what's going on in the background, anything can happen, we just need to enjoy what we get and that's it..

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

REALITY

Part of releasing The Cure was to gain more relevancy, that's not a bad thing though, it's just a fact that Gaga isn't a huge player in radio/streaming services.

I don't think there will be a new album or EP (though I'd love to be wrong), but I think that if The Cure does really well, we might see an EP or possibly full album in the near future.

EDIT - I also think that Gaga and Interscope probably both knew that Joanne may have been exhausted in terms of what songs would make good singles. If course, we think that songs like JW, DIC, A-YO, and DH are good song choices, but maybe Interscope (and/or Gaga) didn't see it that way.

The Cure is definitely a way to create a new (Amazing!) pop song, which fills the need for people to have that "Old School Gaga", but also help build a relationship with radio and increase streaming.

Honestly I think the reason she released The Cure was to accomplish two things:

1) Get good streaming numbers and build her streaming support (something that I don't think any Joanne single could have done)

2) To further bridge her relationship with the radio that has been damaged for sometime. MR started that but I think TC would continue to enhance that relationship.

Both of these things are essential to all future projects of hers. The music industry is constantly changing and so compromises are obviously needed in the bigger picture of things. And who's to say she won't release more visuals from Joanne closer to the tour? Let's just wait and see and enjoy what The Cure has to offer.

Gaga herself didn't see them as single worthy at this point in time, and this one track is more marketable in today's music scene than any of Joanne's songs, minus Million Reasons (ballads are timeless and can become hits at any time). Gaga's taken too many risks single wise to not put something like this out. I think we'll see a more trendy Gaga if she releases an EP/album soon. Personally, I'd like to see it. She makes quality 'generic' music and it equates to success for her, which is always nice to see!

We don't know what her strategy is right now. Only time will tell. Always keep in mind that the Joanne World Tour is still coming up and you're right, there are definitely a lot more songs on the album that deserved some justice (*cough* Diamond Heart *cough*) We can afford to give Gaga some unconventionalism.

Free My Mind

As singles, probably

as songs, no.

She's not about to bin Joanne. She sang several songs from it at coachella, she's going on a tour with its name in the title.

However, Gaga isn't really a singles artist and she's probably realised that - especially post-album singles.

In the modern day and age, music is changing. Less and less artists are going for the usual, single, album then a few singles method. Calvin Harris is going to do a whole year of standalone singles. It's the age of streaming.

The Cure is still an amazing song regardless of whether it's commercial or not. I've always said (in reaction to Little Chartsters). My decision to love a song comes from my love for the song, nobody elses. It works both ways... just because everyone loves it, or it has a sound everyone loves - doesn't mean I'll love it any less. I love it for what it is.

You're not getting DIC as a smash summer single, but you got The Cure that could possibly be that smash single. What is really the problem?? :oprah:

Whispering

None of the other songs would have done well as a third single. Using Coachella to launch a new stand alone single was the only chance Gaga had at substantial radio play at this time. ASIB may end up launching another single...who knows?

Releasing TC at this time was a good decision by Gaga and the label.

I doubt an Artist have had the faith Gaga had in Million Reasons to succeed. She work harder than ever to succeed with that song.

I don't think it's a case of them not being good enough, but she's in such a pivotal place in her career rn that she needs to release something low risk but high potential on the charts, and The Cure is that. I feel like her next option would of been DiC and it sounds good but I don't think it would of worked as a single, lyrically it's not very subtle and would of been a hard sell to the mass market.

Not the bore worms!

being realistic, none of the songs would have been hits had they released them as singles, so interscope probably didnt see any reason to keep the era going
