Wasn't the point of this thread supposed to be about "statements" and just DiC slander? 

Anyways, sometimes I've noticed some fan accounts on twitter post out of date information. Like records that were broken by Adele two years ago and stuff like that.

While the rest of the series of images comparing other pop girls' style before and after Gaga do have substance, this does not specifically work out with Rihanna and I still see monsters embarrassing themselves, the base and Gaga whenever this specific photo is used to drag Rihanna. Rated R came out before Gaga exploded into the mainstream with her eccentric sartorial pieces. It's a shame because it needlessly diminishes Gaga's impact on other pop girls simply because this does not apply to Rihanna.

The first single from Rated R came out at the end of October 2009. The album followed in late November. Bad Romance had already been released as a single, and she was the It Girl of 2009. At this point she had performed at the VMAs, won many awards, covered Rolling Stone, released the Paparazzi video, and had 4 smash singles. So agree to disagree, but Rihanna did go for a more high-fashion look after Gaga exploded onto the scene. This doesn't mean she was copying, but the timing is there. However to say Gaga wasn't mainstream at this point is far from the truth.

Disturbia is an exception, and was also a big song in 2008 not 2007.  However if you Google Rihanna 2008, and Rihanna 2009 the photos show she still dressed relatively "normally" and wasn't all about being avant-garde and high fashion. 

I'm not saying she copied Gaga, but maybe after seeing that Gaga was successful with her "shocking" look, Rihanna's label and PR team wanted to push that side of her more. People were certainly more outrageous, gay friendly, and "out there" after Gaga for it to be a coincidence. 

And its certainly no coincidence that after Gaga "declined" in 2012, everyone went back to stripped down "normal" looks.

Just me personally, but all this talk about the "original LG5". I'm not saying the theory doesn't hold substance (because it does), but it's slowly becoming an "ACT II" kind of situation.
