Of course, the labels are getting their coins, the artist is getting their coins, Billboard is making its charts like always, people are listening to music... I think the only losers are radio and quality content.

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

1:34 "now playing Billie Jean" omg

I think it'll survive just fine by fitting into a slightly different niche. However, people like me who like the traditional ways (artists create music from their hearts and brains and I buy it) are going to suffer as more and more music is just cheap, rehashed stuff thrown out to try and grab a hit single or something. So yeah, what Red said.

Quality is going to take a dip and artists like Gaga are going to be even more precious.

the losers are every single band that is not able to generate blockbuster hits.   Labels used to be able to mentor and work with young bands until they found their own footing.  These days it's impossible for a band to get label investment if they can't provide immediate revenue.

True but isn't that something that already happens? Streaming just intensifies that.

it's been a  move toward the "blockbuster" model for labels for quite some time.  this is to the detriment of music though, unless people want even more homogenous and easily spooned up safe drivel on radio.

it was like this in the past too, and indie labels had their peak, and so much alternative music appeared for that reason.

Innovation and quality always finds a way.
