Lena for eample won in 2010 and is still huge here in Germany maybe you remember this beauty queen Lena's last album is so good. 42 minutes ago, StrawberryBlond said: This is hardly a European sound, it's totally springboarding off the tropical house trend. And it isn't the Eurovision entry because Louisa is actually trying to have a career and being on that show really dampens your chances, unless you're Abba. Our UK entry was decided using past constestants from reality singing shows, ironically enough. I think they're the only ones who want to do it as the UK is going to get hammered at this year's Eurovision because of Brexit. Nobody wants their name damaged with a potential nil points, so the duty's put on those who are desperate to get noticed at all in the industry, even if it's not a career. The beat kinda is Tropical but that Flute/Clarinet that goes through chorus is some how Caucasian/Eastern European sound. This song uses that Caucasian Flute\Clarinet and slays me every time. 7 minutes ago, StrawberryBlond said: Yes, in your home country. That's usually only if it's a country that doesn't have a major presence in the world charts, however. But from a UK perspective, no one's become big in our country from Eurovision since Buck's Fizz in 1981. Most of us consider the contest to be so uncool and many of us wonder why we take part in it every year and put so much money towards it to ensure we get into the final because nobody likes or respects us, as seen in the voting. I guess after Brexit , UK isn't going to participate ?

That might be true. And since my country also isn't liked much when it comes to the part where they give out the points, nobody good wants to be send to the ESC from Germany either, since 2013

We could still participate but we might have to compete in the semi-final to get there. We really would have no reason to keep pouring so much money into the contest if we're no longer part of the EU. And if we have to compete in the semis from here on out, it might mean we don't get into the finals for a long, long time because Europe will be hating us for the next few years, indefinitely. 2 minutes ago, The Fame Joanne said: That might be true. Some people think it was fixed so she could win that year as well, just like other entries have been accused of the same thing. I've noticed that the countries that used to be big superpowers of Europe and the world (UK, France, Germany) tend not to do well at Eurovision, historically and current. I partly think it's the rest of Europe getting them back for the previous world wars. In contrast, the opposite of this is given as the biggest reason why Ireland has always done well - they've never caused trouble, so everybody likes them. The rest of Europe have hated us since the Iraq war, you'll notice that after that date, our points went down dramatically and with the exception of an Andrew Lloyd Webber cameo, they've never got remotely good again. Which is so unfair as it was hardly our decision to go to war, most of us didn't want it, it was our leader who decided. So Europe punished us with lack of points based on the choices made by one man. Yet, they'll happily band together in the Eastern Block to get all their neighbours songs to do well for no reason other than they're neighbours. Meanwhile, the UK's lucky if their neighbours, Ireland, throw them a pity point or two.
