Makes absolute sense since Rihanna has ****-ton of radio-fueled hits than some of the pop girls yet still earning less.

They had no other songs to spend money on for Gaga, and they clearly aren't spending money on any song from Joanne.

So sad that the industry has come to this, now it will be hard to know a real hit :nails:

Out of curiosity- what songs at the moment are likely results of this?

Scars To Your Beautiful

Love On The Brain

Chained To The Rhythm

Don't Wanna Know

The rest are mostly justified since they have a high streaming, favorability, and iTunes rating

How Don't Wanna Know has just 236M views on Youtube? It was one of the most played songs of the fall… Payola is a thing for real.

Don't Wanna Know: 209M airplay = 236M views (900k views daily)

Sugar: 211M airplay = 1,8B views (2,6M views daily)

Stations are paid to promote songs, the exact same way that they are paid to include advertisements etc.

It amazes me people are still shocked or in disbelief that this happens. It also isn't as bad as anyone makes it out to be. A station may be paid to play a song a couple of times a day and that is it. The songs you here frequently are normally requested and reflect what pleases the listeners, they are not from these paid spots unless it's been a knock on effect.

Everyone just comes off bitter because Gaga used to slay the radio with her catchy pop music but now less people are here for her and it reflects on the radio.

This one I noticed myself too because it is being spammed here in the Netherlands too and I was asking myself "who on earth is this". It's just not possible for someone that has no buzz what so ever to be on high rotation out of thin air.

236M isn't bad at all for a song that's only a few months old. Not like Gaga could ever do that... :koons:

I suspect this is more for new artists gaining entry and indies than for big labels.

I know it's not bad, but with the airplay it had, the video should have more views. It's the 333th most watched video of 2016 and the 77th of 2017. It demonstrates that payola exist and a Youtube hit can't happen without Brazil (and other streaming countries).
