What if a Star is born is filmed at Coachella?

The movie starts recording in april and is rumored to be set in modern day. If she has to be a major pop star in the film, why not take advantage of Gaga having a huge crowd at Coachella? This might mean she'll sing a new song. I could totally see this happening, even if they don't record the music, the imagery alone of her on such a big stage would be nice for a montage in the film.

I think I would prefer the film having its own visuals rather than lending visuals from a previous festival Gaga attended. It sounds recycled to me.

That would be the amazing, if they have the whole thing though out

but that wouldnt be a lady gaga concert. I dont know if that's possible, one scene? With one of the songs

How can she make sure it won't leak, cause it would. It would be epic promo. And just her acting up on stage like the character would be amazing.

I'm sure she can't because some contract though

I agree but it's almost impossible to recreate such a huge crowd. And I think they can combine footage of her actually performing at Coachella, focusing on the crowd, with a performance shot especially for the film during coachella rehearsals. She then can dress the part and perform a new song and no-one would actually see her performance untill the films release. Or for example a scene filmed in the wings of the stage with the crowd in the background.

Oh you were talking mostly about getting shots from the audience?

I was actually thinking this could be those old days where a Gaga performance was an event. Rumors about her shooting part of the movie on stage, she actually acting a bit. I don't know, i'm getting too hyped. I miss those performance days when she was in character since she left hotel room

They actually did this in the 1976 film, a huge concert was held and the stars of the film performed along with other musicians and they filmed the crowd for the film so I think it could work. Especially seeing as this film is playing along more to the story line of the '76 one and not the earlier versions

I actually think it will be very unlikely. Gaga was announced as a headliner only after Beyoncé announced her twins and cancelled her shows. If they intended to film Gaga at coachella, she would have been confirmed as one of the main headlinder way before (which would have meant that they had already scheduled everything) . I find it hard to even imagine Bradley and the ASIB team come up with the coachella idea and get ready to film with practically no time to rehearse/prepare... it just seems "too improvised" to me

and also ASIB doesn't come out until fall 2018, which means that they would spoil parts of the movie more than a year before the actual release

but, despite everything, I'd love to see a big concert scene in the movie and I'm pretty sure they'll actually do something like that, just not at Coachella

EDIT: I just saw your comments about "crowd shots" and that could actually work but as far as "Gaga on stage shots" I still think it's probably not gonna happen

I imagine if they wanted to do something like this, they'd do it at one of Gaga's own shows on the Joanne Tour. It seems like too much of a hassle to have a film crew there. Considering the nature of the event - Gaga's team not being the organisers, not much space backstage, other artists and crews hosting the stage throughout the day etc - it would be too much. Also the stage couldn't resemble anything that bears a hint of Gaga because it's not supposed to be her.

It'd also be a bit weird to interrupt a show where she's essentially trying to win over a crowd not full of diehard fans to try and get the shots they need for a film. A tour audience might be more patient with that - even extremely excited to take part - but a festival crowd will want a constant flow of hits and energy.

I doubt they would take scenes from Coachella. That would seem rather reductive and a spoiler for the movie.

unless she performs a new song in character and they use the huge crowds instead of hiring thousands of extras. Cinematic shots of a crowd are different than what we would see watching her live performances
