The weeknd released his album "Starboy" in late november and already has 5 music videos (Starboy, False Alarm, Party Monter, Reminder, I Feel It Coming) and a film called "MANIA" which includes many songs.

This album is very successful and I don't Abel will stop promoting it in the next months. So do you think he'll release many other videos for this album and maybe make a visual album?

It's incredible how much money a label is willing to use as budget to milk newcomers as opposed to how much they spend on already stablished acts

Just their name doesn't guarantee anything. See Britney's Glory. She's been flopping since Work Bitch.

I know but it's obvious that not having a big budget will end up in a vicious cycle of flopping. It was so cool of Capitol to afford such an expensive video for CTTR when rise didn't do well.

He's not a newcomer? His first album dropped 5 years ago. Also why do people criticise labels trying to make money or telling people what to put on their albums.. it's the whole point of having a label, to market yourself

His first big song "Often" was released mid 2014 so he is a newcomer

and I'm bitching because labels would make bigger hits if they afforded better things for people that already have the attention and it's also hypocritical how executives help artists as long as they're selling like pancakes, ignoring their previous history of hits.

It makes business sense, no? They realised there is now appeal in that artist so now they increase the budget to bring in a wide range of fans. Once all the fans are there the money makes itself so the advertising costs go down because there's not many people left to advertise to. Your fanbase is pretty much set. Past that point you're just advertising to people who already know who you are which costs less.

Dramatic downscaling in budgets only happen if the label believe the potential is not there to get the money back, it's the same for any investment, if you don't think you'll get your milli back you don't spend the milli.

Ok I think you know more about the subject it does make sense. I added to my previous post how execs can come off as hypocritical but it is a business after all.

One thing that doesn't make too much sense is the fact that The Weeknd isn't even that big at all, Gaga is always one place above him in YouTube streaming lists, yep, GAGA and none of this clips besides Starboy have accumulated a great amount of views.
