It seems to me ya'll are hating on him just because he's a male and plus a non attractive one? Seriously?* people complaining about lyrics without even having listened to the album... honestly, I think you should stop being so obsessed with female pop stars, it's so gay and close minded I can't even (and I'm speaking as a gay.), there are plenty of artists to listen to. If you don't want to listen to him that's ok but stop critizing everything he does or being happy about bad critics he receives. *and, btw, if your fave stated the same cocky things he stated you would be jumping in your room screaming "yaaas queen" but when Ed did that you wanted him to be over seriouly, do youself a favor and listen AT LEAST to Perfect (which is an amazing ballad) and supermarket flowers (about his grandmother who passed away, it's really touching). If you hate these 2 tracks without focusing on the music (without even thinking about him) and still think they're awful, I don't really know what to say... but at least give it a try. I've been recommended "Supermarket Flowers" before, and it's the only non-single song that I've heard from his album and I truly love that song. It even made me tear up a little bit. But I don't like his voice, his voice is really boring to me. I can't force myself to like a singer when I don't even like his voice in the first place. I (kind of) enjoyed the album, but overall I do feel like the storytelling is dreadfully simple and far from impactful. I actually understood what she was saying about most of the things in regard to the theme, lyrics, sound etc. "The barely suppressed creepiness of “Happier” is his attempt at post-breakup maturity, but it doesn’t even last into the next track, “New Man,” a wounded sketch of his ex’s new boyfriend who has “his eyebrows plucked and his arsehole bleached,” and “wears a man bag on his shoulder but I call it a purse.” One nil, Sheeran. He turns his attentions to his ex. What happened to that sweet, sylvan girl who used to read and eat crisps by the river? “Now she’s eatin’ kale/Hittin’ the gym/Keepin’ up with Kylie and Kim.” You mean, when she could be listening to Sheeran rap about his daddy?" I listened to the whole album in the midnight of its release. I didn't like it. I'm not among those GGD users who bash Divide without listening. Perfect is a failed doo wop ballad attempt with cheesy lyrics about having this woman for the rest of your life and having children with her. And it sounds like Close Your Eyes by Meghan Trainor. Supermarket Flowers is a great song that doesn't deserve to be in an album of generic and bland love ballads and pop songs. Don't make me do a track-by-track review. I will also give it a 3 because I only liked 4/5 songs in 16 tracks. It has a 5.6/10 user score in Metacritic so it is not only us who disliked it.
