Furrrealzjuan 137
I read every comment so far hoping someone would come in with receipts on why she deserves this... From the looks of it, it's just HRC trying to gain more attention/star power so they chose KP.
Alien Tulip 12,428
This is the definition of White Privilege. Being a pasty pale white women with blue eyes can get you many undeserved achievements even when you haven't done much advocacy, have talent, or have an intelligent mind. Katy is the typical "White Hero" that will do anything to cater outside her teenage white demographic (which is mostly the GP). The fact that she constantly says "Woke" when she's discussing Black Lives Matter is very cringeworthy and not genuine. I apologize if I sound like a hater but how does this silly girl have the award instead of Gaga? Does Liza Minnelli, Barbra Streisand, Cher, Rupaul, Andy Bell, Fran Drescher, Chad Griffin, Cyndi Lauper, Christina Aguilera, Laverne Cox, and Phil Wilon have this award? What about Alice Walker? Audre Lorde? Wanda Sykes? One of my favorite artists Tracy Chapman?  and Alvin Ailey? Do their lgbt activism goes unnoticed because they are black? Honestly **** white supremacy and no I'm not racist for anyone that's going to come for me. I just dislike white folks who haven't done much for the lgbt community, get the privilege of getting this award before those who have done a hell of a lot more. Hell even Britney Spears has had more impact and done more.

It's out of the blue simply because there are probably hundreds (maybe thousands) of people who deserve this award above her. The general sentiment of Firework is nice and all but it's not even really specific to anyone, let alone the LGBT community. If one song that could vaguely be applied to the struggles of queer people makes her deserving of an LGBT advocate award, well... I must be going crazy I can't think of one instance of her doing anything for us.
River 117,348
When transgenders are being murder all over the world, Lavrene Cox deserves it this year and not a pop star that did literally nothing for us.. weed 73,935
Bye I wonder if they realize LGBTQ people are actually living and breathing and fighting daily? Like there are actual famous queer people too! And just by existing they are doing more than most "allies"! Laverne Cox is fighting, Hari Nef is fighting, Miley is fighting (and if they wanted pop star to win they def should've chose her, if she hasn't won already), Ellen is here, Ariana Grande has even really upped her social justice in the last year, I wouldn't be mad if she won.
