JohnWayne23 5,227
I don't think there's any doubt that MR will be nominated for Grammys in 2018. Even Billboard is predicting it. Of the categories that the song will be nominated for, I believe the category the song has the best chance of winning is for Best Pop Solo Performance. The category was created in 2012, after the Grammys merged Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Best Male Pop Vocal Performance and Best Pop Instrumental Performance into one category. The description of the category is "designed for solo performance pop recordings (vocal or instrumental) and is limited to singles or tracks only." Of the winners since 2012, all but one have been won by songs that focus mainly on vocals and not production. Three have gone to Adele (Someone Like You, Set Fire to the Rain, and Hello), one to Ed Sheeran (Thinking Out Loud) one to Lorde (Royals), and one to Pharrell (Pharrell's is the one that i believe focuses more on production than vocals). I think it's clear that Gaga's vocals on MR are far superior to any vocal performance Ed Sheeran could pull off with his "Divide" album and Grammy voters have preferred Gaga in the past. I don't believe "Water Under the Bridge" will receive a nomination, it just wasn't a big song. I'm curious if the Grammys would put "Love on the Brain" in the pop or R&B category, because i think that could get a nom too. Grammy cut off is on September 30th. Of the songs released in the almost 6 months in the 2018 Grammy selection year so far, i don't believe there are any songs that could rival MR in this category. And based on artists releasing in the next 6 months, I don't think there will be anything that will rival it.

Doncho 27,241
I have faith in MR but even if its only a nomination, I would be happy. If MR continues to have success then maybe Joanne can be nominated for Best pop vocal album too And there s still 7 months to go so lets just wait... you never know what will happen... Bradley 59,064
I'm more of an optimistic person. I think the best contenders are: Joanne - Best Pop Vocal Album, Album of the Year Million Reasons - Best Pop Solo Performance, Song of the Year
BenG 19,908
That category is not judged based on the vocals
Jenniferella 2,774
Who cares anyway ? Y'all gonna trash the Grammys if she doesn't win and you will praise it if she does, so what's the point ? "I have been writing LG5 since I was 13"
RadioIsOurs 13,876
Castle on the Hill has those high notes though. And Royals got a nomination? I never thought of Lorde as a particularly good vocal singer...

Drin Lon 7,875
I'm just here to remind people that Gaga didn't win any grammy from BTW even though it was a commercial success and it got 3 noms
SlaeUrAnus 15,962
It should be nominated (and possibly for SOTY), but if Ed is in the same categories as her, I'm afraid she will lose out. Not because I like him (which I do not), but how successful he is this year In my messy era.
SEANGT 5,294
There's no way to really tell this early. MR isn't #1 on any charts, it's doing well and has great longevity but I feel like the chance for a vocal pop song to rocket up the charts and become a grammy fave in the next 6 months is VERY high. I think she deserves a grammy for MR though, it's a wonderful song.
