I seriously can't with Russia anymore, like it's enough. I am really really sorry for all the people that have to live there and don't feel comfortable with that and I'm sure there are a lot of people who feel that way..

I respectfully expressed my opinion by putting myself in other people's shoes, stepping outside of my comfort bubble that is pretty much as good as it gets for a gay (Toronto). 

There is nothing extra about it. I would much rather if you tried not to be condescending and actually express yourself with well structured sentences explaining your train of thoughts if you want to express your opinion. Specifically non-sense gifs and one sentence teen pun lines are the worst candidates for that.

They do include LGBT characters:
 - LGBT and allies: "Stop using us/our loved ones to promote your movie!"
 - Bigots: "Stop including these queers in your movies!"

They don't include LGBT characters:
 - LGBT and allies: "Why don't you ever have a gay protagonist or character?"
 - Bigots: *finds something else to complain about*

If you're always expecting them to exploit us (gays) then that's all you'll ever see  Let them have a gay moment and Russia can either get with the times or drive itself further into a hole that it'll eventually have to crawl out of one day.

Like honestly, if Lefou was a well-developed character with his own arc we woldn't be talking about this.

Doesn't mean he's gay. There's always been male characters who worship other men, but usually are never homosexual due to media reasons.  It's just as easy to pair these characters with women as it is with men as long make a point about presenting it as admiration or worship and not love or obsession for the male character.

That's the man reason why people are upset about this. Lefou is represented as a stereotype. Maybe not that many stereotypes, but usually the ones we wish to avoid.

We see everything gay because we know how restrictive media is. But lefou as a gay character is uneeded in any way. It may have broken barriers back in the day, but let's be honest, if you're not going to do right by character, then what's the point?

I don't see why it's uneeded. On the originial movie, they don't tell if Lefou is gay or straight, so making him gay is not like making Gaston gay (because he likes Belle). So I don't know why it's uneeded to explore the stories and feelings of the characters in a deeper way. And it's not like making him gay will change a thing in the movie or smth, it will be just the same.

Dumbledore was also gay, and no one knew till the end of the movies.
