Gay character in Beauty and the Beast causing uproar in Russia

The movie is rated PG and is a live-action remake of the 1991 animated hit. Its director, Bill Condon, has said the character of LeFou, fawning sidekick to the villainous Gaston, has an "exclusively gay moment" in the film.

At the end of the film, there's a huge celebratory dance -- the kind where everyone's in a big circle and regularly changes partners. On one of these changes, LeFou finds himself paired with another man. They freeze, surprised, in their "embrace." The audience laughs and then the camera cuts away. That's it -- the moment is over in less than a second.

I don't like the campaign behind it. It all would've been well and good if they included him as a character but it definitely feels like they were trying to rally liberal support for the film.. Idk I don't love my sexuality being politicized to sell your movie

Honestly, I actually don't care about it. Like people do all sorts of things to sell movies or whatever.

They just know not to half-ass it.

Like honestly, if Lefou was a well-developed character with his own arc we woldn't be talking about this.

Instead, he comes off as comedic relief and plays up to teh cliched trope of gay men falling in love with straight men.

like honestly, people will always use a tool to sell something, whether it be trends or audiences.

But they deserve all the fall-out when they approach something in such a way.

the movie will be **** anyway, like it was Cinderella and Maleficent, I don't know what's the point of these live action remakes

but OT this shitty lawmaker probably hasn't even seen the movie and if it's true what you're saying, I can't believe Disney tried to sell the movie as LGBT friendly/inclusive (?) with that lame scene
