Which is probably why I've been fired countless times and am currently thinking about switching careers all together *hugs* it's a tough career. What area of nursing are you in (emergency, labor and delivery, etc)? I did emergency for 2 years before I did labor and delivery and let me tell you the emergency patients are..... um "interesting". I'm sorry but if you can text your boyfriend, husband, or whoever, your pain level is not a 10. The emergency room is not for the common cold. Please don't ask to be admitted immediately for a case of the sniffles when a gunshot victim just came in. That 5lb dog you have is not a service dog. Now I'm not saying that small dogs can't be service dogs. A dog doesn't need to be 50 plus pounds to detect seizures or dangerously low blood sugar but that dog just tried to take a chunk out of my finger and it proceeded to pee on the floor. He is a pet. Please leave him at home. Oh man those are only some of the stories I have lol I love you monsters. I'd be unfixably broken without you

Please leave him at home. Oh man those are only some of the stories I have lol The truth about the pain level of 10 while texting is unreal!! I've never experienced anything major like that, but my dad does surgery and he tells me all the time about the **** he sees and it's shocking to say the least, which is what got me interested in the first place. I've mainly been there for car accidents, knife wounds, home accidents and stuff like that. The hardest is dealing with kids who come in with a broken arm and you know it was the parents and there's nothing you can say or do, or concussions from domestic violences. It's a really mentally exhausting field, for sure. ER/OR is what I wanted when I graduated then quickly realized it wasn't for me, not because of the gore and shocking things you see, or the aduse to kids of partners, but just the level of ignorance from the PTs and the inability to get the truth out of them so we couldn't come up with plan of cares or able to relay information properly. I worked in geri and I hated that with a passion, but I'm back there again, after doing a stint of working for a plastic surgeon, which I loved but needed a schedule that would work for my school schedule (going for that MSN in nursing education). It's really sad because it takes a special kind of person to be a nurse and be good at it, and over the years I've lost all my sympathy and compassion. I was just talking about that with a girl I work with earlier as a matter of fact, which is why I'm deciding if I want to go back and finish up my degree in English and be a writer, because I've lost what it takes to be a good nurse.
