I mean with how many years music has been made, it would be almost impossible to make unique sounds and songs. Everything will eventually sound like another song. Just sayin i know, but she could've switched up the production anyway. the song itself ain't bad, it's the production which bugs me edit: and no, just writing this in advance before some offended stan tries to come at me: I don't mean a horrible tropical house production Sometimes it feels like I've got a war in my mind, I wanna get off but I keep riding the ride

I'm saying a LITERAL and negative lyric about an ex or friend, which makes it easy for the listener to connect the dots is a very Taylor Swift move (i.e. Style, Bad Blood, Wildest Dream), and something Lorde has NEVER done. She's never written love songs like this. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, the song is a damn bop. But it's pretty interesting to see the connection, especially based on their friendship. And she's commenting on his fraudulent behavior since. This is a breakup song. Which is a very Taylor Swift lyric to write - dragging exes publicly, and pretty literally. Well yes I can hear the lyrics myself but I'm just not hearing the Taylor Swift thing. Taylor wasn't the first to write songs about ex-lovers? I think it's a very tenuous link, honestly. I just think you are reading too much into it. People write and sing about their life experiences, nothing more.

The song goes nowhere. I find it pretty horrible tbh. After 4 years I expected more and not a Little Mix meets Lana Del Rey song.
