I love Green Light but everything you listed about it is kind of subjective.

The song is not really musically complicated. The chord progression is similar to many mainstream pop tunes. Having different hooks is nothing new or unarguably positive. Also "strong" is a subjective term when it comes to art.

A song being repetitive, having 1 hook is not really subjective at all.. Not having a strong melody is not too. I tried to play PI on the piano and it sounded so empty and mediocre because exactly it doesn't have a melody.

Chords are not what makes a song complicated. Also the chord change in the song IS fresh and unusual.I do think that a song being rich of melodies and not being monotonus is unarguably a good thing

I never said that the repetitiveness of a song was subjective. Your definition of what a "strong" melody is may not be the same for everyone.

Perfect Illusion does have a melody, that's fact.

Green Light has three variations of chords. Perfect Illusion has two.

Various chord progressions on songs is not unusual. Set Fire To The Rain by Adele has 4 different chord progressions.

Also just because a song isn't repetitive it doesn't mean it's good.

Perfect Illusion has a melody but it's just very very very weak.Without her strong vocals the melody sounds bad. The verse is literally almost melody-less and the chorus is 4 repetitive notes playing. And that's the whole song lol You can literally call anything "subjective" but it's not as subjective as you might think it is.

Also the song actually has 4 chords overall, not 3.And they are not the basic chords used in every popsong. Also the chord progression changes from the verse to the prechorus and then again to the chorus. Of course you can dislike a song even if it's more rich and complicated but what I stated are facts

The chorus of Perfect Illusion contains 5 notes (Db-A-Ab-F#-B). The chorus of Green Light also has 5 notes during the chorus.

Green Light's verses aren't very melodic either, the same note repeats during most part of the verses just like in Perfect Illusion.

Perfect Illusion has two different chord progressions, so no, that's not the whole song.

Green Light has more than 4 chords. I said it has only three different chord PROGRESSIONS. You even listed them in your post (verse, prechorus, chorus).

What you have stated are more alternative facts than actual facts.

Listening this song again again, it is not a good song.

It couldn't even be a single if it was in Pure Heroine, it'll flop for sure.

One of the best lead singles released in years in my opinion. Got in on repeat since release and I'm not bored yet. Last time this happened was when Gaga released You & I as a single :golfclap:

First one I've heard by her that I don't like. The piano is especially annoying.

It was an opinion. We'll see, Pure Heroine is one of my all time fav albums, Green Light came off as melodically underwhelming for me compared to Pure Heroine.

I love this song and video! The first stuff from Lorde I'm really into. Her singles were good from Pure Heroine, but it was a really boring album. Excited for Melodrama!
