I can't believe how well MR is doing on radio. I think I say this everyday but it's still such a surprise to me... If you told me like two months ago that we'd be pushing for top 20 on radio with over 60m AI I would've laughed

Is CTTR peaking? That's also a surprise. I've actually come to enjoy it although I still think the lyrics are a mess.

Callout scores impact? theyre bad. kind of feel bad for Katy though, if her doing a more "political" song didnt do as well, she might never evolve much

It's interesting why it kinda flopped in the US and other English-speaking countries, when it's seems like it completely smashed in Europe.

The fact that it's Gaga's biggest hit in Latin America, Eastern Europe, Greece and Spain doesn't change the fact it was a hit in every single anglosaxon market. It just didn't smash there: Bad Romance and Telephone did.

top 5 in US - x2 plat

#7 in UK -  Gold

#2 in Australia - Platinum

How is that a flop? :oprah:

>top 5 in US - x2 plat
After such a huge hit it was considered to be a flop. I remember everyone was saying that Alejandro flopped in the US (and that was the first time when haters were talking about Gaga flopping). The sales are too meager considering her star power during TFM era.

#7 in UK -  Gold
Are u kidding me? This is a straight flop.

It also didn't receive a cert in Canada and was only gold in NZ.

While it's 3x Platinum in Russia and Platinum in almost all European countries.

I would die for an era when alejandro is considered a flop:giveup:. Since i became a fan her biggest hit is you and i/applause. I avoided all the smashes and got to go through marry the night/G.U.Y/PI and The dwuw mess instead :neyde:

Can't compare AI totals from singles so old

Alejandros 80 would be well over 100M in 2017. Easy.

Why is that so? More people listening to the radio today?

If you are right then We Belong Together's 200++m AI is a monster hit.

Must be. Let's hope MRs are good (if they ever come) :gum:

True. Although it's "nice" to see that even people that have previously been staples on radio, like Katy, can stumble at some point. Shows that DJs aren't always completely rigged in favour of certain artists.

You don't have any idea of what you're talking about.

Let me educate you

Gaga's best song ever a.k.a. Alejandro didn't chart as well as Bad Romance and Telephone in the anglosaxon markets because the song is weird (dark vibes, Spanish words) and the video is even weirder, but still managed to peak at #5 in the US, #2 in Australia and #7 in the UK; it was in everyone's mouth and was the song of the Summer in a lot of countries (Latin America, Spain, Greece, Poland, Romania, Russia, etc.) even tho Gaga didn't promote the song AT ALL because she was slaying on a worldwide tour.

Like it or not, the US, Japan and the UK are the major music markets. Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Canada, Australia, Brazil and the Netherlands are actually the only other markets that matter (and they're irrelevant in many cases such as single sales). Russia is nothing if we're talking about major music markets. Even if Alejandro is 3x Platinum there, that's not even close to the value of a gold certification in Brexit Land.

4,5 million copies sold worldwide, 3 of them in anglosaxon markets.

ALEJANDRO DIDN'T FLOP ANYWHERE
