At the very least, he should not be allowed to oversee the investigation at the DOJ and the FBI of the Russian-Trump connection. 

If they can prove he lied, it would be deemed perjury.

Not only was Sessions one of the earliest riders of the Trump train,as we know he came on as the Chairman of his Foreign Policy committee. 

According to Breitbart back in March 2016:

For first time, Miller detailed the effort Sessions has poured into this new role. “Jeff Sessions has been meeting for hours now putting together a team of foreign policy advisers, military experts, [and] intelligence experts,” Miller said.

And yes, it's that Stephen Miller, who started as Sessions top aide in AL.

And this form a few days ago: Jeff Sessions allegedly steered Russian operative Carter Page to Donald Trump campaign, raising more questions than anwers about the mystery which is - Where the **** did Carter Page come from?
