On 2/11/2013 Gaga sustained a serious hip injury during a performance in the BTW Ball and she was forced to cancel the remainder of the tour. The injury was much more serious than first thought, requiring an operation and a recovery of more than 6 months. In pain and depressed, she went out of communication with the world, for the most part. During that time she was abandoned by many fans, and the media took the opportunity to kick her while she was down. On 9/1/2013 she kicked off the ARTPOP era with the iTunes Festival performance known as Swine Fest. She wore 3 wigs during that performance, but I Wanna Be With You was her reunification with her fans, and she sang that, and Swine, in her real hair. She was speaking directly to her fans here, baring her soul, speaking from her heart, not as a stage persona, but as herself. This was very personal: I live outside the space time continuum. It's no secret that the bond we have with gaga is something unique to only us. Other celebs have a very distinct seperation between themselves and their fans but gaga has blurred the lines because she's quite maternal with us. I've always said that if one of us ever really honestly truly needed her she would be there in a heartbeat regardless of the distance or hour. Deep down she'll always be "mama monster". She genuinely does love her monsters. Every so often I see glimpses of the mama bear instinct in Gaga. It's that instinct that drives her to want to be near us and to keep us safe. I still think that's what "come to mama" is really about. No matter how old we get, she'll always see us as the broken insecure kids who need to be sheltered from the big bad world. It's just maternal instinct. Yeah she "raised" us to be strong, independent, and fearless but sometimes maternal instinct gets the best of her and she just wants to shelter us from everything bad in the world. A woman doesn't have to give birth for the maternal instinct to kick in. Gaga is living proof of that. We share not one shred of DNA and yet she loves us as if we came from her own womb. I found that quote in a book I was reading and it's so true. I love my gf's sisters kids as if they were my own. I'd gladly jump in front of a bullet for them just as I would for my daughter. I can't explain the bond that we have with gaga and her with us but it's something deep and maternal. It's something I won't ever take for granted. Remember she could be said "buy my cd. **** you" but she didn't. She took us in and loved us as if we were her own I love you monsters. Yes, I think it is beautiful. The chord that grabs me most is at 0:41, right on the word "up" in the 2nd "I don't wanna grow up". I'm talking about the chord that is masked by the word "up", not the chord that follows it. The chord seems to be a step up from the chord on the 1st "up". I wish I had taken a course in music composition or theory, because I don't know how to describe these chords or progressions, I just know I am moved by that chord. Well, I actually enjoyed the ARTPOP era and the message behind it in spite of all the criticism. I think it was a sort of redemption for her from all that BTWBall pain and betrayal.
