point is that even witout the streams she still has all platinum albums. she still sells album. even if she doesnt sell more than the guys above her (obviously seeing as they are ranked higher than her??). and the double platinum number for the second one doesnt include the reup. 

as for your six times platinum number.....im not so sure

Yeah obviously she sells some albums but not as much as one might expect her to, having landed on the list of most successful rap artists of all time. As I said, it's no easy accomplishment and she worked hard for it, but out of her total sales figures, an overwhelmingly large majority of it comes from her features and that's simply a fact. And yes it does since BB counted sales from the rerelease towards the original and that's what it charted as.

Maybe that was a bit of an overstatement on my part but it's not entirely false, and many got close. Eminem for instance had two diamond albums, and two more that sold around 5.5m according to figures on Wikipedia so they're probably more than that by now and would certainly be past 6x platinum if SPS was a thing considering Nicki's album somehow got certified double platinum despite selling less than 700k units. Tupac also had a diamond album. 50's debut was 6x plat and his second is close. Wayne, Jay, Snoop and others have sold a lot of albums too. Granted most of those albums were out in a time when record sales were bigger, but Nicki's aren't even close to exceptional for her time. Only one of them has passed 1m pure sales, your statement that without streams they are all platinum is simply incorrect.

Whatever your views on her album sales, my initial statement that she got as high as this because of her dozens of features is absolutely true. And Drake is no doubt #1 by benefitting from the same thing, as I said, but his pure album sales far outweigh Nicki and they're from the same era. So...

yeah but streaming also has a lot to do with this list so why would you almost try to discredit it. nicki is big in streaming. and in a time where sales arent as great as they once were, that is a feat. we also have to take in nickis audience. she has a very specific range. male rap fans arent going to listen to her as much cause she is a female. honestly she has to depend on her pop fans(the gp) really to cross over and buy her music.

Did you read what I said? I've said a couple of times already in this thread that it's no easy feat and it's a great accomplishment regardless, just that these lists and titles are misleading because it works in her favour massively. People place artists on these grand pedestals all the time like it's nothing and now she's supposed to be considered amongst the greats of hip-hop? It's just because she is in this era and she is so prolific in her work. Yes it's harder because she's female and yes she's done incredibly well for herself, but a fact is a fact.

I think you're getting offended by this and reading shade into something where it simply isn't because you're clearly a Nicki fan but I'm just saying it like it is. It's the same system that allows the cast of Glee to boast the most entries on the Hot 100, taking the title away from Elvis Presley who clearly did not get to spam the charts in the same way they did. Now his legacy will remain as second best. To Glee.

I'd love to see an alternative version of this list to remove tracks where the artist is a feature to see the difference. I imagine Drake would still chart pretty well as he's had a considerable amount of hits and Hot 100 entries as a lead artist. Nicki, not as much. And if Billboard are only counting tracks they consider to be rap/hip-hop, well...

I'm really not here to heat things up but it amazes me how so many members here praise her for her music... As far as I know she's all about her ass lyrically and artistically and even if it does sound like a cliché to say that in 2017, it's the damn truth.

and i hate to be the person to have a rebuttal to everything but thats because you only here what sells. Pills and potions was a more personal song that was released and yet was so much less successful than Anaconda. She has great personal tracks and her albums are a good mix of everything but the public only hears what they want.

So you're trying to tell me that she actually tries to convey something else than before ? Dude, just look at those latest on-set pics that leaked days ago. Nothing has changed, she's still the very same sexual object she has always been. I'm not saying it's on her 100%, of course her label told her what to do after P&P flopped and so on, but I find it hard to believe that there is something interesting for her to offer, just my opinion. She's a product and will probably always will be, unless she really takes risks and ditches this tired gimmick of hers.
