1998 - Jennifer Paige

Crush was such an iconic bop, and the album was not bad considering the state of pop in the late 90s. If you all haven't listened to Jennifer Paige's new single, The Devil's in the Details, please do! It was such a pleasant surprise. A dark, moody synth-pop song which I was not expecting from her. Has me kind of excited to listen to the rest of her fourth album when it's released later this month...

Honestly, had to look her up when i was making this, but as soon as i heard the song, it was so nostalgic. I was in 1st grade when it was a hit

I know, me too! The song is still a bop to listen to today. Sadly, she's had such a boring career (and become a true one hit wonder). Hence why I didn't have high expectations for her new single, but as I said, it was such a pleasant surprise.

Despite Crush being a huge hit, I honestly would never have pegged her as being the top new female artist of 1998...
