Racial segregation plagued this nation for decades 

Racism itself took a new form in the US 

What the US did to Native Americans is genocide

The USA expanded itself globally through brutal imperialism at the cost of many lives around the world 

USA dropped two nuclear bombs in Japan and is the only country to have done so 

Capitalists in this country treated their workers like garbage until they rebelled and demanded rights

We still don't guarantee healthcare for all, education puts you in debt for decades, and corporations screw people over every day from banks to your local supermarket 

America has always been THIS. It's just changed over time and took on new forms. 

Yes, this is a great country to live in in terms of living a decent life and having access to many opportunities, but America has NEVER been "Great"
