This was taken of the presenter on stage during the announcement with the wrong card in hand.

So they must have mistakenly printed off Emma's twice if indeed she had hers in hand.

No "lying" that you speak of going on tho..

It was printed twice, but there was also the winning envelope as well, that was shown at the end of the award show.

Seems suspicious

It is his fault and theirs.

If the card said ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE EMMA STONE why the hell did he say BEST PICTURE LALA LAND. How dumb can you be?

No, it isn't his fault. Why are you yelling about something you didn't even see?

He said nothing. He refused to say what was on the card because he knew it was the wrong card. Faye Dunaway thought he was joking, and just read "La La Land" out loud without seeing what was written around it.

What kind of iconic poetic justice?! An over hyped, tone deaf movie that people will forget in 1 year having to literally hand back their award to the more deserving and socially aware masterpiece that will stand the test of time.

I didn't say I did? But I'm also not going to label a piece as a groundbreaking work of queer art when that aspect takes the biggest backshelf.

Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

I mean, it didn't have a big coming out scene or him proudly joining a pride parade at the end but what would you expect from it? The movie was about a man so guarded and inhibited that he couldn't muster words to carry a normal conversation and  only allowed to be touched once ( sexually).

I didn't realize the only dichotomy allowed for these types of stories is either near silence or leading gay pride parades.

Just quoting both of you to add my opinion to yours:

I think the movie is so great because many gay kids can relate to him. I may not be black, but I am not white. When I watched it, all my feelings from during highschool came back. The loneliness, the awkwardness, the shame,...

They portrayed it effortlessly. Just that scene when he comes home (as a kid) and fills the tub with water, and they show him juat sitting there all alone, that scene alone deserved an oscar. It was so relatable. Maybe they didnt show a lot of sex etc, but that wasnt the goal. It was more about a boy growing up in a place that didnt except people like him.

I really believe it was beautiful how they didnt include a lot of sex but kept it interesting enough. It was more about his feelings of being alone and misunderstood...

EDIT: btw, I also grew up in a place that was homophobic, and I know how its unrealistic if they would have introduced the sex/queer part to the story. It just wouldnt make sense other than to feed thirsty gays  haha
