The whole album seemed to be made quickly because she scrapped the original LG5...None of the songs make a lot of sense and are really simply written. Perfect Illusion is probably more repetitive than Poker Face... :duck:

It's a catchy dance song but what it's about is just kind of blah. The "I can't wait to smoke them all, whole pack like Marlboro" sounds like smoking was the inspiration for the song. It just seems dull but I guess that's just because it's a dance song? And it's not really intended to be meaningful but intended to be danced to at a club.

ha lol bye. its a fun cool track .andone of my favorite

It's grown on me so much. I was underwhelmed at first. Hated the SNL performance... but now it's a top 3 track for me on Joanne. I think it needs to be the third single.

Lyrics are not the only thing that requires inspiration for a song. She focused more on the melody and the instrumentation/production, which is fine since it's an amazing track.

"YOU USED TO BE SO KIND, I NEVER KNEW YOU HAD SUCH A DIRRTY MIND".

What the f.uck? Are you guys serious?

"smokin' 'em" is a common phrase for doing well and silencing the haters. She wasn't 'inspired by smoking'.

Why are people complaining that the song is fun and not meaningful? Literally every other song on Joanne is full of deep and powerful meanings, and A-Yo is the one song on the album that is just fun and upbeat.

Really?

Gaga really can't win.

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

A-YO is a blessing. One of the best songs on the album. Just because it sounds simple doesn't mean she wasn't inspired in writing it. It's a fun, feel-good song and that in itself is enough :gaycat:

P.S. it does have meaning. Every line in the song is a different way of explaining her positive way of doing well and shutting down haters and having a good time making art and music and doing her job and exciting fans.

I can't wait to smoke them all - her talking about her excitement to put out new work that she's proud of and thinks will do well despite her critics

Blow it in your face - a 'f.uck you' to the haters and saying that, despite people wanting her to go away, she's not going to, she's going to keep putting her music right in their faces because it deserves to exist in pop culture

I can't wait to rev you up, faster than you can say ferrari - referring to the feeling she gets when she drops music and her fans get all excited ('revved up'). How fast her fans get excited and happy. It's a common phrase to say "___ will happen faster than you can say ___" and ferarris are known as extremely fast cars. Some wordplay going on.

Tearin' up the gravel, watch you unravel, now it's a party - a line about having a good time and letting loose and living in the moment.

I can't wait to cast my spell, which one you'll never tell - she's talking about doing her 'Gaga thing' and mesmerising people with her art, by doing the unexpected, surprising people, always changing. We can never predict what she'll do next, but we're always surprised and it's always exciting and fresh. And she can't wait to do it.

Because why? What's the common theme here? She loves her job, she loves making the fans happy, she loves the excitement of releasing new stuff, she loves surprising people, and she loves doing it despite how many people want her to stop, and she doesn't care what the haters think and will keep doing what she does.

I could go on for the rest of the song but this is enough.

Some of you just need to learn more about poetry, so you can read deeper into songs than just hearing keywords like "smoke" and "ferarri" and writing the song off.

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

just another gay

I honestly think "Mirror on the celling" is refer to a disco ball hanging on the celling

The whole song is a gentle FU to the haters, like "I got plenty to shut you up"

For me it has the same meaning as DWUW: "Dont care about the Haters., etc." And DWUW is a masterpiece and one of Gagas Best Songs to date in my Opinion... So actually I didn't get why she tried to jump on the same topic again. For me it's surely no way near to DWUW. Charts proof it too...
