Well, Gaga has a very different songwritting style than most artist, Lana is very classic and can totally write a gorgeous song. The thing with Lana is that she reuses words too much, and Gaga is not very relatable.

Yes. Lana is more cinematic which I adore more. But their styles are very different so it's all up to taste and opinion.

I would say they are both light years better than alot of other artis, I also think there is room for improvement for both. If you had said Amy Lee VS Gaga I would have said Amy Lee. But Gaga and Lana are different but equal in my mind.

I disagree. I also disagree with the notion that Lana has more "poetic" lyrics, both a their share of lyrical flops. National Anthem by Lana is a lyrical DISASTER, High By The Beach & Dark Paradise are too. Gaga, like every pop songwriter, is prone to excessive lyrical repetition (just look at the choruses of Born This Way).

Imo, they are pretty on par. I'd love to comment on musicality and I don't know how or whether Lana comes up with melodies, harmonies etc, so that wouldn't be a fair comparison.

In addition: Gaga can get pretty poetic too imo, Bloody Mary and the bridge of Sexxx Dreams (that appearently nobody but me likes lol) come to my mind.

No.

She's not a good songwriter. I love her but that's that.

It's the instrumentation and her ethereal vocals make the songs sound more elegant and dream-like. It masks the horrible lyrics, most of the time.

They are completely different artists. I do think that Lana has a combined better discography when put up in comparison to Gaga's full body of songs.

Gaga is the better artist though, in all other ways. Gaga is like a nerdy theatrical science project and there is no one like her, since maybe the old stars, like Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli. Gaga can do everything when put to the test and you can feel her sheer excitement in all that she does and Lana doesn't touch any of this in the slightest. Lana is all song and that is all. It seems to suit them both though, Gaga has branched out and is trying everything, while Lana just delivers her albums and drops out of sight. I like these differences best about both.

I love them both in their own ways.

No, i really love Gaga, but Lana's songs and albums have some special magic, her poetry, the way she sings, on the other side Gaga has more dance and pop songs, which I also really love. But I really wish that Gaga had songs like Sad Girl/Pretty When You Cry on Joanne.

gaga will never have songs like that because that's not what she writes about. no idea why you lana stans always insist on comparing the two of them when they're nothing alike + never will be alike. they both are incredible writers in their own ways, especially given the genre of music they do.

Lana writes in a more poetic style versus Gaga who tends to write with more pop hooks and leans towards catchiness. Not a fair comparison, but I do think of Lana has more of the songwriter whereas Gaga is the performer.
