They both have crutches they rely on. Overall I would say Gaga has a better writing technique even though Lana's lyrics are stronger most of the time.

I would say they are both light years better than alot of other artis, I also think there is room for improvement for both. If you had said Amy Lee VS Gaga I would have said Amy Lee. But Gaga and Lana are different but equal in my mind.

Imagine if Gaga delivered Amy Lee level lyrics  my emo heart

Really? Gaga is far from a "dark" artist overall. I'd consider Lana's discography way darker.

Lana is more suicidal kind of darkness

Gaga is more like night-life kind of darkness

and Gaga is way more dark overall

They both have their problems and the areas they excel in.

I don't wanna compare their skills since comparing skills in creative techniques is awkward and everything.

I think Gaga is better songwriter, she has been nominated for Grammys for her songwriting skills, she has won awards for her songwriting skills, she has been named one of the best songwriters in music industry by many important magazines

Lana is good tho.

Yes because lana is more poetic and had countless amount of unreleased material to off a twelve album release deal. I assume she rights everyday cause I there I'd always new lana music to be found.

Both are very talented visionary artists tho.

I don't really think it's fair to compare them because they are both very different artists and have different writing styles. Lana is more poetic I'd say, but that doesn't necessarily mean better or worse. It's just a different writing style. I stan for both though, so maybe I'm biased

I think so overall, even though sometimes her themes on her official LPs are very similar. Even though BTD, Paradise, and Ultraviolence were all very different sonically, they were still kind of like tales of tortured love.

When I think of Lana's songwriting, I think of her as telling and spinning tales. Some of them are almost mythically dark or 'wrong' and even cautionary tales. Some of them are autobiographical, but which ones are fully true and which are not you can't really tell. I feel like Gaga's writing is more grounded in reality. Personally, I prefer Lana's song writing, but I actually LOVE the camp of Gaga's writing at times that lots of people find as examples of "bad" song writing :emma:

They are kind of different lanes admittedly, but when I think of Lana and Gaga's approach to mainstream "pop" songs, ballads, rock songs, etc. I prefer Lana's outputs  Obv. just my subjective opinion though.

Lana is a better lyricist and Gaga is a better songwriter.

There is more to songwriting, than good lyrics. There's a reason why Gaga has way more hits than Lana :sure:

Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.
