Literally how does more people coming out have anything to do with it? No matter what level of hate crimes there are, they shouldn't be happening to begin with. That they're "lowering" because more gay people are out is beside the point really. The amount of hate crimes seems to make it seem like a bigger problem than it is, because there are more gay people and more people in general so the numbers are going up, however the actual rates in percentage themselves are going down. So even though the amount has gone up, the rates have gone down. I do agree that a lot of work needs to be done specifically on gay and Jewish front, however things are going down and have been since 2010, 2011. So really the problem is currently being solved as we speak. The other day, it was pretty cold outside, so the windows in my bus were full of condensation. When I entered, I sat and looked on the other side and someone had drawn the Nazi symbol. And I'm talking about a school bus. And since it was already there when I entered, I assumed it was an elementary school student's drawing, since my bus transports elementary school students before coming to us.
