I literally answered this thread with a mental 'yaaaaaas' :emma:

I say it a lot around my friends. Not so much at work but that's because of my own insecurities I guess.

I find it quite liberating sometimes to use gay slang and just be what I am... be gay and be open about that. I think we all have a lot of internalised homophobia (myself included I guess) which can make it difficult to fully be yourself.

Then again, I totally get that not everyone is a 'yas' kinda gay and their choice of not using certain slang is exactly that: a choice - not self-oppression.

With me though, I do think I can oppress myself when it comes to using certain words. I do not live unapologetically as myself yet. I do around friends, but not everyone else. It's sad.

Last night I was watching Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, and Yasssss Gaga'd every time Queen Amidala showed up in a new, fabulous outfit... so, like every two minutes. :lana:

Of course, when I'm with my friends. But sometimes I say Yaaaaaas or Yaaaaas gurl in my inside when I see cool stuff and I'm around strange people.

Walk down the runway but don't puke, it's okay. You just had 10 donuts today. Without frosting.

OT: I only say quick "yas" and it doesn't sound weird or embarrasing tbh... I sometimes do say "yaaaas" ironically when it's obvious that I don't care about something

I pretty much use stan jargon in my everyday language and I'm sure the people who I actually converse with have no idea what the hell I'm talking about :toofunny:

My mutuals though, they think it's hilarious and now are using all of our jargon. They've told me I should just write an official Cat (Cat is one of my nicknames)  Language Handbook in my phone notes and send it to everyone so they can join in and yaaaaasssss with all of us lmao

It's even worst. The word Yas should be vanished from history, burned into oblivion and drown into silence. :hor:

I do if I'm texting or joking around in person.

Me and my best friend love Broad City so we always reenact this scene
