I don't understand this wall situation to be honest. Why are liberals supporting illegal immigration? And doesn't the US have enough forces to stop it without building a wall?

Democrats support it, because:

- illegal immigrants contribute to US society. Their crime rate is lower, they bring jobs, consumption and innovation, etc.

- the US needs a growing population to be able to compete with a China, India and the EU economically and politically. The US has a much lower population than these three and not a lot of growth potential left, so needs to get more and more people to stay relevant.

- the US needs more workers to make sure there's enough young people to pay taxes for a relatively low amount of old people using healthcare and getting social security.

- immigrants and young people vote D (though Republicans are also very pro-immigration generally)

Stopping illegal immigration wouldn't help create higher wages - companies would simply move to Mexico or get more machines. No American wants to do their jobs.

I'm not saying that a sudden influx of 100M illegal immigrants would be good - Obama put quite some restrictions on migration for a reason, but a yearly influx of a million or perhaps two million helps pretty much everyone. Of course they have to be granted citizenship after a while.

Besides all of what Luc has said, our "forces" are not border patrol, which is a completely separate entity from our army, I believe.

Don't joke about those things, it's often not sure whether people are serious or not, especially in text form, and often suicidal people may make such jokes as a way to try to express their feelings. If you are serious please seek help.

It's kind of the same in my country with the illegal syrian refugees. Without them there would be a LOT of minor but very essential jobs missing (like no one would work in agriculture or small businesses like plumbing or carpentry)... but still having border control isn't a bad thing (there are now almost as many syrians in lebanon as lebanese people.)

So then why don't conservatives want immigration?

I don't really have any kind of knowledge or interest about US military, I'm just saying a country as powerful as the US surely can stop a few runaways from sneaking into the country without having to resort to wasting billions of dollars on a wall :rip:

Sorry to be so crude, but this is a new low for Fox "News".

Conservatives do want immigration because their donors do. Trump isn't a conservative, but a nationalist.

And yeah Lebanon is quite a different situation. In my opinion there's a limit on how many migrants is acceptable and in Lebanon/Jordan/Turkey that limit has been reached for quite some time now. In the EU there's no demand for cheap employees from Syria because we've got Eastern Europeans for that. The US is so rich with such a big population and a history of immigration and multiculturalism that a million extra really is just normal.

The wall is mostly symbolic. Trump's team has also suggested a wall of drones, which would be even more effective. They just want to deliver on their campaign promise, doesn't really have anything to do with efficiency or results.

Well like I said, border patrol is not a part of our army. Actually the border patrol has an official name known as CBP. They're also, hiring.

So, if I'm guessing they have the same standards as anyone else, you probably have to take a lot of tests and be in utmost physical condition in order to be a part of the CBP. Not to mention, in combination with the fact it's a job probably no one wants to do, especially now, and the CBP has other priorities.

He's 9 years old, why bother taking the kid's views seriously until he has a better understanding when he's older with more schooling?

However, entering the country illegally is a crime to begin with. All those points you described ought to be focused on legal immigrants, you know, all those people who did the hard work and time to get naturalized like my parents did. And I know of plenty of legal immigrants who became citizens that contribute to society in jobs and the like.

If we go through the amnesty route, illegal immigrants ought to at least pay a fine and get naturalized somehow so they can pay taxes as citizens do and employers can be stopped from exploiting them, giving them below minimum wage. They also aren't protected by employment protection laws. And let us not forget voting fraud and other types of fraud when these people are used.

So I don't understand why Democracts or "the Left" ignore the illegal issue and paint this as some racial or solely immigrant issue, when they ought to offer solutions to end the problem altogether.

Stand in the light, cast your shadow.
