Beyoncé's performance was a pretentious, self-indulgent mess. I've loved her since the begining but her out of control ego, the press and her fans have started to annoy the **** out of me.

I'm not saying the performance is bad. I'm just saying when everyone is up Beyoncé's us in such a blatant way, it just makes me wanna justify that love, and I simply don't see it in any of her performance. I'm a fan of metal so I cannot comment on Gaga's performance. To me it was everything I hoped for and she delivered.

Beyonce's performance, while relatively simple for Beyonce was still vocally on point, much more so than most of the other performances, and it was an ode to womanism, black motherhood, and african spirituality, sorry but that's not even "special"?  She said when she accepted the award for Lemonade that she wants to create a world where her children and other people of color can grow up and see themselves represented and feel that they have every opportunity that others do, that they can feel loved and beautiful and respected. This performance, like most of this entire era, was just another check mark in that box how I see it  

If any other artists did something like this they would be applauded for going further than they normally go for performances by including visuals, narrative, and message instead of just singing and going left to right on the stage  

I can see it being called pretentious, but Beyonce does have the cultural gravitas to back it up.

Dwarfed? I don't know how you could watch that performance and come to the conclusion Gaga was dwarfed by Metallica. For the majority of the performance her vocals were the only vocals being heard, she worked the set, stage dived, crowd surfed, and got a standing ovation. She killed it.

Beyoncé is so extra.

She's basically been delivering the same kinda "looking fierce+flipping my hair" performance for years now, it's just become boring. 

To me, her performances are like her voice: good but monotonous, with very little versatility.

Tho Gaga vocals were on point it was really, REALLY messy, y'all have to admit it. Going from that flawless Halftime Show to this is kinda.. strange. Gaga is a very polarizing artist, and I think it's okay for her to do thigs out of the box but sometimes you need to think about you career, I mean, just a time ago Gaga was one of the most "meh" and boring artists out there, and just a week ago all the hype, all the praise and relevancy she used to have back in 2009/10 came back bursting like a bomb, and one week later she does this really risky unnecesary performance (which I loved btw dont get me wrong) Sometimes I just cant understand Gaga and her team.

Where is the lie though? I don't know metal standards but at the end of the day this is a Metallica song and you can't compare Beyonce with that. No disrespect to Metallica but these are two very different genres and music and performances.

As soon as Gaga dared to publicly call herself an "artist" she was dragged by everyone and called pretentious and whatnot. Being labelled pretentious in this business is incredibly easy, unless you're Beyoncé. She didn't just label herself an artist, she literally personified a pagan virgin Mary kind of sh*t, queen of women, spokeswoman for Mother Earth and sh*t. She can get away with it because she's Beyonce.

I agree that vocals were on point, and that's great, and Beyoncé is legitimately one of the best performers of this generation, so I'm not gonna comment on her vocals...of course they were amazing! The performance was a nice performance, and that's all. But did she "steal the night?" I agree that it was a good performance, now someone explain to me why was it "extraordinary".

Same. I am getting sick of all the Beyonce ass-kissery, I loved the performance, it was visually spectacular but let's not act like she has descended to some higher form of demigod or whatever; which let's be honest, she seemed to almost imply herself with those girls bowing down to her and whatnot. I am here for her vision and message especially regarding race and culture; I am NOT here for the pretension among fans and media that she is above every other artist out there and above criticism. Some people seem to have forgotten that not everyone likes Beyonce and her music and visuals, As if it's impossible not to like them.
