Is MR close to Silver in the UK?

Silver is 200k. MR is about 100k I think so far. Might reach 150 at a push so I doubt it

Rest of the world: *jumps on the Million Reasons bandwagon after the Super Bowl*

UK: nah I'm good

It is strange though because I've heard a lot of praise for the song. My 5 year old nephew bought it on iTunes anyway :firega:

The UK just isn't here for Gaga. That ship sailed way back in 2013 I'd say.

It sucks living here from a musical perspective, tbh. I think we are the worst market for letting generic, trend-conforming songs do well. The idea of a 'pop star' in the UK has been dead for awhile now. In America you think it's bad, but in the UK it's really terrible. Pop stars don't do well here at all lately... it's all about DJ's and club hits.

The only exceptions to this rule are the likes of Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, Little Mix and Adele. They are the four big 'pop stars' that do well here unfortunately in terms of sales. Aside from sales though, she is still a huge name. It's just not reflected on the charts, which is fine - it's the age pop music is in nowadays. She trends a lot on UK social media though, the half time show got a lot of hype on our TV shows and a lot of people were talking about her in the office ect. And as for the tour... it's totally smashed.

She's a respected big name - and always will be - but pop music in general doesn't sell well here. That's how it is.

and ed Sheeran is no where near being a pop star in my eyes lol.

MTN almost got top ten here it was a hit tbh on the radio often. Million Reasons isn't as big unfortunately. At least bad romance sold over a million

No one knows it exists tbh here. No radio play no one watched the superbowl well very few. Its not that mr is not to our tastes its that its had no good exposure. Her x factor performance was good but the song just didn't catch on with one performance.

The song has been on regular rotation on Radio 2 if that helps haha.

But the DJ's tend to make generic songs here and there as well :oprah:

River

The UK music scene is really at it's lowest point.. only Little Mix and Adele are successful locally.

But it's understandable.. in the last years they UK only delivered some reunions of old forgotten bands like Five, Atomic Kitten, B*Witched and Steps..

So I'm not shocked to see Gaga's positions in the charts and sales.. if the local artists are in the ****, the international artists are not exception..

basically Radio 1 almost completely controls what becomes a hit in the UK (Capital is also a big force but not as much) and it's just lead to one or two DJs like Nick Grimshaw pretty much turning the airwaves into constant tropical club songs.

there's a lot of love for Adele, Little Mix, Ed, Clean Bandit and they can make music that's a bit more varied but apart from that #nope which is sad

although Radio2 has a large audience, they just don't buy records as much (unless it's adele, but in the UK it would be impossible to avoid hearing about a new Adele song anyway)

tl;dr Gaga had such great success here for being edgy in 2009 but since then the UK music scene has become focused on DJ-remixed tracks :bye:

show me to me please
