To me, Gaga is the best mainstream artist from this century, sorry not sorry.
Not only she's incredibly talented, has over 300 awards with a less than a decade old career, brought pop back to life in 2008 when everybody was all about R&B and hip hop, revolutionized music videos and performances, and made herself an icon in such a short period of time, but also she's the celebrity that has the closest and most honest relationship with her fans.

She's definitely top-tier as far as talent goes. 

But the fact that she ignores what's popular and does what she wants, and still makes it amazing....that's priceless.

Strictly from what we see on stage/screen: vulnerability, risk-taking, showmanship, athleticism, insanely diverse discography, insanely diverse vocal abilities, she can play at least two instruments, she never lip-syncs, and she frequently does it all while also dancing. On top of everything else, she also turned out to be a very good actress.

She has handled her artistic growth with great care and integrity.
