I was a bit surprised too, but I have read in interviews (back in the 90s when I was a major fan), that they like different kinds of music. James Hetfield likes country, among other things. I think Jason Newsted (bass) was the most open-minded, IIRC, but he's been replaced since then (BTW, Jason has expressed admiration for Lady Gaga as a songwriter, a few years ago). Anyway, I think it's quite common for professional musicans to be far more open-minded than most people.

I don't know what they'll play, but I bet it will be something that rocks. Either a metal version of a Gaga Song (Bad Romance?), or Gaga singing on a Metallica song. I don't think it will be something like Nothing Else Matters either, because I think Gaga will want to rock, when she performs with them. Ballads she can do by herself, in front of the piano.

It will, of course, be a Metallica classic, it's disrespectful that you even CONSIDERED, that a legendary act like Metallica would be there as some sort of session musicians playing in the background for GaGa to promote John Wayne :wtf:

I'm PROUD, and HONORED that Metallica thought of her to perform one of their songs.

This is gonna be awesome.

Gaga is a music fan -- and a musician fan -- and I think she'd feel honored to perform with Metallica on one of their songs. You know? She's deep enough in her career to enjoy the work for its own sake, and she pushes herself hard for herself and her fans. That quest for fame will always be baked into her aesthetic (it's her wild leaps for fame that make her risky and we like that), but her risks come from being a huge music and pop culture nerd.

If they DO perform a Gaga song, it'll be Perfect Illusion or Million Reasons. Notttt John Wayne, because Gaga would have to be the one singing it. Can you REALLY imagine James doing those lyrics?

To be fair, Master of Puppets is about addiction. But they do write heavily political songs. :rockstar:
