Its predicted to sell even less than Perfect Illusion and Gaga came off a 'flop' era while Katy is coming from her very succesful PRISM-era:diane:

Katy also had more promo (I think ):duck:

Honestly the video doesn't help, listened it on Spotify and enjoyed it. The video seems....tacky? Like she's trying to sing a kind of serious lyrics with that childish visuals

Can someone confirm this to be true or false? Are CTTR's sales really expected to be 50K? That just does not sound right to me at all, and part of me is hoping it's just a rumor. Like, I don't want Katy to block Gaga, yet I like Katy enough to know she doesn't deserve to flop that hard; I would feel flopped for her omg

The thing with Katy Perry, that I always find with her, is that she always has weird phrasing and wording in her singing style and written lyrics, and this song is majorly proof of it. It's always very clunky to me, even her most popular songs, but that is kind of her thing, I guess. It's like it's her brand, so I am not surprised that this song is another example of that.

It may do well. We shall see. She is always majorly popular on US radio.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

why the fact that i jave that opinion makes it smart? cause i'm dumb? lol

i'm not american so i didn't know the its trump related, that doesn't make me an ignorant cause i have a country to worry about, mine, yeah i sometimes read some us news but not so often

well, i have to admit that now the lyrics are more interesting, but the song as a complete thing, its kinda basic, i still like it tho but i expected more

but look at the chorus, maybe the lyrics are supposed to sound like a basic pop song but they have a double meaning...

like "turn it up it's your favourite song" means keep up the fake closed view of the world because it's safe and easy to consume

"dance to the distortion" means to keep going along with all the lies perpetuated by the governing bodies, media, society etc. i.e a distorted reality

"stumbling around like a wasted zombies" just pretend like everything is okay, party and get drunk with your friends to block out reality

"we think we're free" we have an illusion of freedom and choice created by the mass media and society but really we're all "chained" to social constructs which enslave us

"drink, this one is on me" she's telling us to "drink" up another manufactured distraction created by her i.e this song

Just my interpretation :trollga:

The song was building to such a strong chorus and then it just fell flat, damn.

This seems to be the case with Sia-penned tracks recently. Just look at Brooke Candy's recent release; it builds up and then just goes no where. It's like Sia has decided to keep the good material for herself and is feeding these other pop gals her scraps :madge:

That's one interpretation. I also think "dance to the distortion" sounds like "dance to the disco drum" on purpose. I don't have energy to analyze the whole song but it sounds about alcoholism to numb yourself from the pain of the world.

TBH at one point when I realized this the song made me emotional
