Gaga underwhelmed many, but at least she had the guts to take another direction. This is bubblegum pop all over again, only this time with some disco flair. So yeah. I remember she saying in some interview that Katy's way of doing things was too creatively different from hers, and that brought some complications to them writing together. When I first heard that little snippet of the intro, I thought it sounded brilliant, so if that sound had been a bit more prominent throughout I'd have liked it even more! And people saying it's just the same old Bubblegum stuff? It's actually quite clever but subtle enough to not drown out the whole song with politics? Far better than Prism for me.
