John Wayne MV - A missed opportunity?

So let me start by saying that this is in NO way a complaint and I have never been prouder to follow Gaga for her entire career and see the heights she's been reaching. Her super bowl performance was truly epic, her tour is already slated to be a HUGE commercial success (I got tickets and within 2 minutes they were sold out), and her sales are up almost 2,000% which is more than any other SB performer in history

So this leads me to my current point:

John Wayne could definitely be a success but as other users mentioned, I don't think it's going to be a single. The day after the video was released she posted about Million Reasons. To that end, it seems she wanted to capitalize on the awarnesss of her new album and make a video for one of the more "cult favorites" on the album. To me, the video is breathtakingly amazing. There's a clear and distinct theme between both the connection to the Joanne video saga, in addition to the JW video itself. If anything I feel like it was a missed opportunity releasing this amazing video randomly while JW isn't getting radio treatment. While assuming the rumors are true and John wayne is performed with Metallica this Sunday, awareness for the song and it's potential are quite night. However, I don't think she'll have another new song on the radio anytime soon. I think it would've been really cool if she hyped this video for weeks. When telephone was released there was a 2-week promo period following up to the release which included photos, posters, trailers. In addition, the added incentive of Jonas Akerlund directing would have the GP and her own fan base reeling with anticipation. A Gaga Music video used to be (and for most of us still is) a highly anticipated event.

This just goes to prove that Gaga truly is an artist that doesn't feed off of recognition. She loves her fans enough to release such an awesome video while sacrificing the immense event it could've been. I'm super happy with the video but I do wish this would've been promoted just a bit more!

REALITY

Well, first, the whole her performing John Wayne with Metallica is hardly a rumor really, it's just something that we'd definitely like to see, that being said, I hope that's what she does.

And, wasn't it confirmed that John Wayne wasn't a single? At least, according to the Forbes article, and apparenlty from someone from Interscope, it's not a single. She did say that the videos this era are going to connect, which obviously they have, so maybe she's making more videos than singles from the album to tell a conveluted story—that being said, John Wayne seemed pretty abstract to me.

Knowing Gaga's team though, JW may eventually become a single. Depending on how well it does, they could decide to make it the 3rd single. I mean, they made MR the single when it was suppose to be A-YO, and they've done that in other eras too. Why wouldn't they make a single off of a video that would do well?
