Hello Little Monsters!!!!!

This is my first post on this site since before Joanne's release. Dont get me wrong, i've been lurking on the site every so often whenever bored, not one of those LM's who had a meltdown and denounced Gaga or anything lol :ladyhaha:

Anywho, back to the point of this post, as many of you know, John Wayne's video has been released as an ITunes exclusive. I was wondering if anyone could educate me as to why artists do this. Bey did it with Lemonade and Tidal, as did Kayne and Gaga's doing it now with Itunes. You would think that mass exposure to new works would be a good thing, so why limit who can experince your art?

Someone please explain. if you could also site other examples of exclusive releases and how/why it benefited the artist and/or label, please let me know.

Thanks bunches!!!:firega::firega:

talking album wise, she could make a deal with Apple just like Rihanna did with Tidal, and even tho Rihanna sold a little with public, still Tidal bought over million copies of anti making it succesfull.

Sugar, spice, and everything nice.

Probably money. If you give someone exclusive rights to something, you get more money.

the service pays  A LOT of money to the artist for the exclusivity, more than the artist would ever get from streaming. In gaga's case she doesn't even make money from her streaming as per her contract, so its an attractive offer for most artists who have bad agreements with their label

um

there'd be no video without it?

so...

the video itself is the benefit?

There's nothing harder for people to do than admit they were fooled.

The only realistic thing is probably some money for producing it.

But for every other person :neyde:

Do I even need to begin :neyde:

Cause the Streaming services offer money to artists that do this. Frank Ocean, for example, released album "Blonde" one day after his album "Endless" (the last one contracted) was released. He released it on Apple Music. This because no other label wanted to help him anymore + Radio was not going to help him either because they work directly with the labels (mostly). So he made a deal with Apple Music. His whole album "Blonde" was there. Apple gets new costumers on their streaming service and the artist gets good money for the deal + streaming.
