If you really enjoy music and listen for hours every day, then yes! You should definitely look for higher quality audio. Depending on how the music is mixed, it can be a totally different and better experience for you and really worth the extra money. Songs that I've listened to a million times before can still make me want to just sit back and ignore everything else.

I listened to these samples:

and I cannot tell the difference at all from my itunes version. Am I missing something?

From my end, having the iTunes version and sample at the same (really high) volume, there's no distortion in the sample. I had to quickly pause when playing the song through iTunes because that scratchy sound made me worried I'd wreck my headphones speakers. With Diamond Heart, the acoustic guitar is crystal clear to the point where I can hear the guitarists fingers fully slide across the strings between chord changes. I didn't really notice it in the iTunes version. That's not something that's a deal breaker or all that important in this context but when you're listening to more complicated songs, you'll definitely pick up some important elements that change the experience for you.

Im not hearing the difference in any of the songs. Either my ears aren't refined enough or my headphones aren't good enough.

Yep. Although you can hear the some differences without (especially if they did a good job on the production and mixing/mastering end). But it's not really ideal for that. I'll be testing Born This Way out, since it was very compressed as a final product, but this format could easily open it up a lot.

I have hi-res copies of Britney's In The Zone and Rihanna's ANTI and they're both really stunning releases. Lots of new elements brought into the production on Britney's especially.

I'm definitely excited to buy Born This Way for the same reason and also because most of my hours with that album were spent in 2011-12 with a pair of apple earphones.

I got Gaga's albums on iTunes plus. Are these better than that ?

Edit: Just checked myself and all of the songs that I have (her albums) are 44.100 kHz.

These also say they're 44.1 kHz.

I don't think Joanne is the best album to test this out with. Try the Born This Way Snippets. And if you still can't hear a difference then don't worry. This type of listening is just a sort of luxury if you have the time and and get the right equipment to fully pay attention and enjoy. Otherwise I don't see the point. Most people are too busy to sit back and devote hours to listening to music. We typically pair music with activities that take up a lot our attention and it's an afterthought. I consider myself obsessed with music but I'm no audiophile and I can still enjoy listening through a $5 pair of earphones.

This is my first time hearing her songs at this bit level and it's like listening to all of them for the first time again

Sennheiser, Akg and Klipsch all make some of the best in-ear and over-ear earphones. Here's a really good site where you can filter the price range and quality you're looking for. https://www.headphone.com/collections/audiophile

I have a pair of Sennheisers that are really comfortable and durable. The only issues I have with this pair is they're not very pretty and they look enormous on my head and so I barely go out with them. Hopefully the site helps you.

What do you think of Audio Technica? I've got a pair of ATH-M40s and was wondering if it can handle the slayage :music:

It sounds crispier but then I dont have good headphones.

The best way to listen to Gaga's music for me is in a car with my CD.

I love it when I feel the bass and the beat surrounding me and it vibrates my car seat. When I first get my CD, I usually go to a drive through car wash, I'm having a mini concert and my car is pulsing with Gaga's music like a diamond heart.
