Morphine Prince 110,002 Posted February 2, 2017 Share Posted February 2, 2017 The Trump administration wants to revamp and rename a U.S. government programme designed to counter all violent ideologies so that it focuses solely on Islamist extremism, five people briefed on the matter told Reuters. The programme, "Countering Violent Extremism," or CVE, would be changed to "Countering Islamic Extremism" or "Countering Radical Islamic Extremism," the sources said, and would no longer target groups such as white supremacists who have also carried out bombings and shootings in the United States. Such a change would reflect Trump's election campaign rhetoric and criticism of former President Barack Obama for being weak in the fight against Islamic State and for refusing to use the phrase "radical Islam" in describing it. Islamic State has claimed responsibility for attacks on civilians in several countries. The CVE programme aims to deter groups or potential lone attackers through community partnerships and educational programmes or counter-messaging campaigns in cooperation with companies such as Google (GOOGL.O) and Facebook (FB.O). Toddlers with guns killed more people last year and the year before than possible "radical Islamic terrorism". Unless you count the Pulse shooting but even then, that was a failure on our part to say "this guy is under FBI investigation for ties to a terrorist group...maybe he shouldn't be able to own a gun capable of taking down 49 people in minutes? It's a global issue now so everyone is talking about it not just the US. As for being political experts i think everyone, especially the younger members, should be aware and have knowledge. We need the youth of today to be interested in politics, the discussion should never be discouraged. Now this is BS. Apparently white people can get away with literally anything, and will be viewed as "Oh but he didn't know what he was doing, it was mental illness that caused it". Trudeau called the Quebec City shooter a terrorist, which goes against the media's definition because the shooter was white. But you know what?
